e350 Rain Sensor Wipers not working properly

If I put my wipers on either of the intermittent settings they seem to work okay for about 10 seconds when it is raining then the wipers start going into ludicrous mode.

I really hate my wipers when it rains because I end up just pressing the single use button all the time. How can I get the rain sensor to work properly?

Have your windshield been replace before? Did you try cleaning your windshield area where the sensor is located.

Its the original windshield I think. Window is clean. This has been happening for over a year now.

Happens to me from time to time. Usually turning off and then back on gets it back to non-ludicrous speed.

If I turn it off and back on it works again for 10 seconds again then goes to ludicrous speed.

Sounds like there might be a problem with the camera/sensor and it thinks that it's pouring heavy rain which is causing the wipers to go in "ludicrous speed."

LOL.
Is the camera fixable?
Or do I just have to wait until my Tesla Model 3 is ready?

Yep, turn off then on. Every MB I have owned has had this issue. I have concluded that the system has always been problematic and never addressed properly by MB over the years.

I just took off the sensor and cleaned the 4 lenses and the windshield inside and tested.

Same result.

Its pretty easy to remove. I just took it off today.

I suspect it is bad.

I have the same issue. Will try the shut on and off and see if it makes a difference. But I see this as just another bit of MB over engineering, a much simpler system that would let you set a time delay for each wipe would be bulletproof. Coming from a '98 C that used vacuum for everything and of course didn't work all that well after years, its nothing new either.

Another member posted this reset, consider this before replacement.

I tried the reset procedure during a rain event last week, and ironically the wipers worked fine all the way home. Unfortunately this morning they decided to not work again.

So I guess it needs to have a new rain sensor.
