Air inlet ducts
Are there any options out there for the air inlet ducts for the 550 biturbo?
Mine ripped and I don't want to replace with original, kind of flimsy

I'm assuming you are talking about the highlighted ones right? I've only seen the super expensive carbon fiber replacement ones.

Mine deteriorated and I replaced with these. They work really well and come with everything you need. I'm keeping them like this for a bit and then venturing toward a colder solution at some point. Let me know what you think!

Thanks guys! I was surprised how cheap they were and how perfected they looked myself!
I actual got them from my local Autozone for $20 a piece. They come with 2 rubber couples each as well. The brand is Spectre and model number is 8741. Every Autozone I went to stocked it. Usually only one so might have to visit more than one.
The two I have on are as small as they go so you may be able to get away with just one and cut it. you would just have only 2 couplers which would still work bc they are really only needed on the oval scoops at the front! LMK if you have any other questions!

Well it finally happened. I was doing some spirited driving on the highway and the car just didn't feel as fast as it normally does. At first I was thinking was the car running really hot but the temp outside was in the low 60s. So that wasn't it, I pulled off the fwy and headed to a gas station. When I popped my hood, to my dismay, I saw the dreaded inlet duct issue that the 63 guys get often. So having remembered this thread. I searched and found a chain of different threads and everyone had bought the same replacement parts from Spectre for inlet piping. Here is my before and after.

one thing that is stopping me is HOW DO YOU GET THE ROUND SHAPE END OF THE PLASTIC BEND TO GO IN AN OVAL SHAPE BLACK PIECE in front?
can i just bend it to shape , or does it come with some type of adapter?
for 20bucks each these are way cheaper than $70+ for OEM replacement

1. the adapter will bend on to the oval shape
2. HOWEVER, do you see that white wire? you have to pull it off completely from the oval connector of the car. The reason being is that will pull all of the fabric off the factory connector and the spectre piece will slide right on. If the fabric is still there it will not fit. Once you get it over the oval piece you have to test fit the rest and may have to cut a little off of the driver side. Keep in mind the passenger side needs more material so measure first (I learned the hard way) before cutting. This took me all of 10 minutes to do. Really simple.

I had the exact same question when I looked at everyone's pics no one said how to do it. So their are two parts to getting this to fit correctly.
1. the adapter will bend on to the oval shape

so you think 1 kit will do the job if measured correctly? or 2 kits are necessary because of adapters that come 1 per kit?

total cost was like $40 from Amazon. 1 kit per side, 2 adapters per kit. Now I'm thinking I'm going to pick up the UPD spacer kit. Will let you know.

I did mine a couple of weeks ago. The driver side on the intake side doesn't fit perfectly. Did you guys have the same issue?

off topic. when we ordered the mustang i was contemplating on the color. mrs blurted out, "red! so its faster!" we were both smiling and the sales rep was looking at us clueslessly.

Spectrer hoses fall apart even sooner
I too had broken OEM hoses a couples year ago and read this thread. I installed those $20 spectrer hoses and everything seemed fine. A couple years later and those are broken as well. Probably 12k miles or so on them. Any one else heard of a more permanent solution here?
