Dealer Declined to Perform Service

My wife has a 2013 E350 we purchased under the CPO program in August 2014. We had two years of free service. In August 2015 we had the A service done under the program for free. This August the car service reminder came on and my wife scheduled an appointment for a B service at the local dealer. When she took it in the service advisor noted we had only driven the car 4,000 miles since the A service and said it was not enough miles to warrant doing the B service. Is this legitimate? or are they trying to not do the service under the CPO so we have to pay for it later? How long can the car go miles-wise before it needs a B service? Thanks for your input!

is the miles/yr stated specifically on the CPO program that you purchased?
if "yes", then you can probably ask "nicely" if they can do the B service before it expires.
if "no", then tell them to do it no matter what the mileage is. i service my own car so i do it annually which normally takes 10k's.

I think its 10,000 miles or 1 year between service intervals, whichever one happens first. If your car is telling you to do one I don't understand why the dealer would decline it, that doesn't make any sense to me. ¯\(º_o)/¯

I'd call MB directly and tell them. Or take it to another dealer. I'd do both!

It sounds like it has been one year since your last service, if your car is telling you need the service, then the dealer should do the service. I would talk to the service manager and get it straighten out.

I brought my car in after 2 years and had only about 3000 miles they performed the B service because it was 2 years old. Go back to the dealer and tell him you wand what is supposed to be done at a B service. Otherwise next time when you have to pay they will do it.

Never heard of a dealer turning down service even if it is early. In this case, it is not early as it has been 1 year since last oil change. Make sure you get not only the B service but the brake fluid since it has been at least 2 years (and that's not always part of a B service at some dealers). Cabin filter is probably 2 years old also and should be changed as part of B service. Not sure what else would be due for you at this point.

Just bring it back, they should do the one year B oil change service.

They should do what your Maintenance Manual says is required at 10,000 miles or 12 months, whichever comes first.
I had MBUSA Pre-Paid for first three years and dealer never hesitated to do A or B as required even though only about 3,000 miles since last service.
There are two types of service - Required and Recommended. Required as a minimum should be covered by your "free" service. Nothing is free; you paid for it in price of car.
Was the "free" service something the dealership offered or was it MBUSA's Pre-Paid Maintenance Plan? If MBUSA's, no question dealership should have done it.
