Unhappy 2014 E350 Automatic trunk won't fully close.

Hey guys, searched the existing forums but couldn't find anything so making a new thread. 'If the question is answered somewhere else please do direct me. I've got a 2014 e350 with the automatic trunk open/close. The only problem in its operation is when I hit the button on the trunk to auto close, or even use the close button in the door up front, the trunk comes all the way down but right at the last point when it clicks shut it just goes right back up. If I push it down manually at that point it locks. I checked along the trunk and trunk lid lines for possible obstructions but found nothing. If anyone knows what's going on please help. Thanks!

2014 E550-sold 😩
Sounds like the latch needs to be adjusted properly.

Should be covered by factory warranty. Pull fault codes using STAR (MB diagnostic system) "may" simply need to normalize control unit.

Yes, with the door button in front I hold down all the way continuously but it comes back up slowly as if it were being opened right at the last second when it's closing. With the trunks own button to auto close I just press as it meant to be

The fob will open it just fine but I think it can't close the trunk regardless of the issue. I believe the sedan trunk can only be opened with fob.

Youre right, it will open with the fob but wont close. Did you try closing it with the button in the boot?

You have to hold the door button until a few seconds AFTER it fully closes, so the latch engages. If you're letting go as soon as the lid shuts, it doesn't have time to latch. It's very slow.

Since it's a bidirectional button up front in car, I hold it down in the close direction, even continuing to hold it down while it's popping back up

Yes I mentioned using the button in the trunk, unfortunately did not work, that's the usual way I'd close it once I'm done loading the car. Even the kick method to close it results the same way, all the way down, last second back up

oops, sorry i missed that from your original post.
the last thing to do now is have the latch re-adjusted or "normalize" the system like Key8 and konigstiger suggested. goodluck mate and hope its an easy fix.

Trunk open out of nowhere

I Just had an weird issue happen to me.....I was driving home and my trunk opened. I could not close it until I put it in park. I was thinking that I might have hit the fob while it was in my pocket but after parking it in my garage I hit the trunk release on the FOB and it would not open until I hit it 5 times.

Trying to wrap my head around this and all I can come up with is the latch is not moving to the upper position to accept the trunk latch? is the entire assembly motorized, for the "auto-close" or "soft-close" feature? Right? Because the trunk lid comes down and engages the latch lock before the lid is closed, THEN the latch assembly moves "down" into the body to fully close the lid??? I know old GMs used to work like this in the 80's...surely it's more complicated than that, right???

crap...no I gotta play with my trunk latch before I go home tonight! lol
