W212 possibility K40 problem
Hi, I have a problem with my W212 e250 where I cannot start the car after replacing my alternator. The engine not even crank and the radiator fan keep on intermitten running even my keys in off position.
In the mb forum people did mention K40 relay and I could not find similar to my car.
Need help to some one who have the same experience with same model w212

Out Of Control!!
You have to first start testing things----first--is the battery fully charged. Second can you start the car by going directly to the starter from the battery? Third have you checked all the wiring you removed during the alternator installation? Have you checked the starter relay?----now post your VIN!!

Hi thanks for the respond.
1- yes the battery had been fully charge.
2' can we do direct start (starter motor directly connected to battery- jump start)?
3- the alternator wiring is connected fine as it using unik socket to each individual connection.
4- the starter fuse fine which in E250 fuse box 6,7,19&27. But could not figure which is the starter relay.. can i have the picture or diagram?
For further information I had open the fuse box and found no burning pannel.
Once i connect the battery it makes a clicking sound on the relay (may be overload protection relay).
My VIN # WDD212047-2A-125066

Does the car start with a jump start from another car or donor battery?
First thing to suspect is normally the battery. Voltage on these agm batteries can be misleading. The battery shows a high enough voltage but the amps aren't there. A load test of the battery when it is out of the car is the best way to tell.

The clicking still hapen with the fan cooler switch on even without any key on.
Is it.something to do with the clicking sound the relay inside the SAM?
