Son broke mine off while brooming off 15" of snow.

I have a Luxury 11 W212 with the vertical star, and want to replace it with a vertical star again.

Looking around, I find OEM for about $50 and a host of look-a-likes for $20 - $25.

I mean, it's not the $25 savings, but does anyone have experience with OEM vs clone?

I had a non oem replacement. It was button style to replace the vertical star. was about $30 and degraded in the sun. Lasted 6 months. go OEM.

Wasn't much info out there so I figured what the heck, I rolled the dice on a cheap one on eBay. It was from China and claimed it was oem, even had the oem box. Well I figured it might be oem as China has MB factories. But it was a fake. Couldn't get it to fit on. Took the old one apart and swapped the bottom spring and it fit. It was made slightly off so it looked fine. They gave me half back so I ended up paying less than $10 for it. But it wasn't worth it. Now it's a little crooked and I move it back once in a while but the spring seems slightly off. Might have to just get another one, but I suppose I could snap it off again or someone else might snap it off again so maybe I'll wait til that happens.

Would you spend $50 and go to the dealer vs $33 and have it come to your door?

If it was price, I would have bought a $15 clone on ebay.
