EClass E350 limp mode W212
Hi, purchased above had it for 3hrs and the engine management light came on and went into limp mode. Contacted dealer(Mercedes specialist) who said to return it. Had it checked diagnosed my end first and it had egr fault. On return to dealer it also read an egr fault and they replaced it. The car still went into limp mode so they sent it to main Benz and they done a software update and apparently this has solved the problem. They are insisting on keeping the car for another week to run some miles up to make sure it’s ok. So they will have had the car for 3weeks and their lack of confidence in fixing the problem is unreasuring. How would you deal with this? Thanks
I'm not taking any sides but here's what I read.... you had a problem, which the first dealer verified and repaired. Then perhaps the root issue of software came up and the MB dealer corrected it and sent it back to first dealer who wanted to verify repair rather than send the car back to you.
I take it you bought the car from a third party dealer (mine was bought same way), and after being sent to MB dealer for software repair they now have the car back but are hanging onto it?
I'm not convinced that's a lack of confidence, could be they simply want to ensure the repairs are truly done. But I'm not sure though that I'd let them drive my car around going to lunch and maybe someone's home. I'd probably want it back with the understanding that if more issues come up then back it goes. You can just as easily put some miles on it.

The car is 2010 one keeper and 70,000 on clock, it has been really looked after.
Would a software update resolve car going into limp mode?
If they kept the car over the weekend it seems that you should be able to take it back. Of course if they were closed over the weekend did someone take it home?
I think it's fine to give them a chance to fix it but easy enough for you to get the car back, again as mentioned, with the understanding that you'll bring it back if needed.

I've tried almost everything and nothing have worked so far.
even when I took it to a Mercedes workshop they just told me we need a software update and we did that and still nothing has improved.
