Have a 2015 E350 sport.....had a speaker making static sounds/crackling then when to a high frequency pitch for about 15-20 seconds...then a popping sound....then quiet.
I have not determined which speaker made the sound but it seemed to be the left side passenger door or the rear shelf. Baffles me what happened other than a speaker self destructing. Am on limited warrantee and know the dealer would charge me $$$$ to analyze the speaker system. I'm prone to just let it go as my old ears don't seem to notice any degraded sound. I did go into the system and play with the balance but could not notice any significant sound changes. Any input from you folks ?
OK......the saga continues. Yet another speaker is self destructing. This time its the right side passenger door. The noise is difficult to deal with and is unstoppable. This will be the third issue I've had with this. While I can identify that both passenger door speaker are toast I have not resolved a solution. Do I spend the mega bucks to replace or continue to have fewer and fewer speakers. Not pleased with this happing in an otherwise great automobile. The car is a 2015 E350 basic/sport model. I am probably not able to do a self help replacement as I have researched you tube and the job looks like its over my capabilities. Next option might be to see if I can find an installer who is capable to do this.
Any feedback/suggestions would be appreciated. The issue is a giant pain !
Thanks for the inputs. The door speaker did in fact melt down with a lot of smoke and odor on the way to a local installer. He is calling it the amplifier and will replace that plus both the passenger door speakers. Will try to find a replacement amp which he called Model 9065 . Hopefully that will end the "SAGA".
