W212 Facelift
Roadtop Bluetooth audio

Hello I have trouble with wifi connection and only solution to it is software update from what I've heard. I asked roadtop for one and when updated I now have new interesting settings but mainly instead of "use car's bt phone" there is "use car's bt channel" which is exactly what it says, it ditches routing audio thru android auto and lets you stream audio to car's Bluetooth. So no more routing damn aux cable for new installs and mainly high audio quality lol. I was not able to test wireless because problem I am facing right now but it worked on wired android auto.Mind you, my car is w212 with ntg 4.5 and flash this at your own risk. M42R173:https://drive.google.com/file/d/15bS...=sharingUpdate instruction:1. Prepare an empty 8GB USB flash drive (or smaller than 8GB) and format to FAT322. UNZIP the file first, copy "ISPBOOOT.BIN" file onto the root directory of the USB drive. You just need the "ISPBOOOT.BIN" file.3. Connect the usb drive to the decoder box.'Setup' ->'Software Update' -> password 8032 -> 'System Update ISPBOOOT.BIN', then the update will start. Wait untill the update is done. After the update, there will be a new setting "Use car's bt channel". Turn it on, connect your phone to the car's bluetooth and audio from carplay will be played through car bluetooth. However, you can't use Airplay with that setting on. You have to turn it off then choose AUX for Airplay. And of course you can still use AUX for carplay as before, just turn the new setting off.

P.s if anyone knows solution to issue in 3rd picture, i'd greatly appreciate it

Dang, wish I saw this before I took all of my trim off and replaced it last week. Would have been nice to do this while the trim was already off.

Hi. I have a 2012 W212 and just installed the RoadTop for NTG 4.5 and 7 inch screen. Everything seems to be working as it should except I am getting a crackling noise out of my passenger front speaker. I hear the music but its crackling / staticky, especially as I increase the volume. I checked the grounds and tried the two options of connecting the Audid Gnd to the Gnd of the Video harness and also the Audio Gnd to the car metal. I still get the crackling noise. Does anyone have any suggestions that they can think of? It is very frustrating. When I play audio through any other source, the speaker works perfectly.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Try selecting the sound channel as Bluetooth

This is not the unit that goes in the Glove Box that's plug and play. It's the stand-alone unit that installs to the radio.

Also, it depends where you live geographically and the options on the car.

A unit like that is EXTREMELY easy to install, but we did not receive many head units with that port in the USA, for example. And in other markets it depended on the option package(s) installed.

Check your glovebox before ordering.

Thanks for answering. Looks like they have a better version meant for our US cars that takes more to install. I’m fine with doing the work and ended up ordering one after watching their install video. I had to do something similar when I added a touch screen and CarPlay to my Audi B8.5 S4. CarPlay is too convenient to not have in these cars.

It has always given this same message, regardless of whether the adapter is plugged in or not. I’ve tried with different sound inputs just to check (iPod, phone etc) but still nothing. Thank again for the advice 👍🏻

I have 100% the exact same problem. I am curious what did you end up doing?
