Rock chips driving me nuts
Hello everyone. I wanted to reach out to the collective brain trust here to get your opinions.
i purchased a 2016 CPO back in July and absolutely love this car, but I’ve been noticing the rock chips are getting unruly. I've owned many different cars in the past and have never experienced any kind of issues like this. I admit this is my first Mercedes Benz and maybe this is just how they are, but this just feels excessive to me.
There are a couple other W212s in the parking lot where I work and they don't look anywhere like this. I don't have the chips anywhere except the front bumper.
I'm ready to get some Dr ColorChip, but wanted to see what you guys think. Thanks again.

That's the way of life on the roads. If the car has spent its life commuting on I-880 for example, then rock chips is what happens. All depends on where the car was/is driven mostly. Only way to avoid these is by installing paint protection film like many of us are doing on new cars. That keeps those rock chips from occurring and keeps the paint looking great even after years of driving.

Get a paint pen with guaranteed color match.
The key to success is patience. You need to put small layers of paint at the time and let it dry before doing 2nd and 3rd and.. coat.

That's nothing, my car looks like it's been sandblasted.
On my Audi I had the front valance repainted and had clear film applied. Great so far. I'll get the MB done too, hopefully this year.
Don't bother with waxes/coatings, and you'll just be chasing your tail with touchup paint. Got to take it back to base and apply a real physical barrier to the front. Probably the mirror caps, too.

Thanks everyone for the info and help. I'll probably do a bit of touchup in the meantime until I can get it repainted and do a clear PPF for the front.
In the meantime, does anyone have experience with Dr. ColorChip, or should I just get the color matched pen from the dealership?

Do they sell them now? They did not few years back when I needed it.
I bought spray paint in silver from dealer and the color did not match, but for chips you don't need perfect match. When I was buying paint pen before, we had forum sponsor who offer nice discount. Those things can get pretty expensive.
Than depend on the color, you need different quality paint match. Silver metalic is very hard to match, but for white paint I bought cheap pen from China.
Yours look metallic under the dirt? Better pay for quality.

After a trip from Georgia to Arizona in 2018, mine looked worse than that. I had the front bumper and hood resprayed, waited a couple of weeks and had a 3M paint protection film put on. It still looks showroom new. I also put on a good ceramic coating.
