(video) Replacing Bio-functional Cabin A/C Filter for W212

This is not the first time to try the Bio-functional cabin filter, I used to install it in my W221(S550). The effect is not bad.

This is the one I just installed on my E350. Came from FCP. What is special about this filter?

Also does anyone know what the sensor is that you have to pull out?

This is a PM2.5 grade filter.

How does this compare to the Bosch HEPA filter? I've recently installed one as I have terrible pollen allergies, but I'm not so happy with the lack of carbon filtration and the resultant smells that enter the cabin.

I am satisfied with the Mann's bio-functional filter. That was last two years without odor and pollen due to the PM2.5 grade and activated carbon. I have no experience with Bosch filter. As my opinion, Bosch is good at electronic of vehicle but not in the area of auto consumables.

Great video!

I don't know how you managed to slide in the new filter so easily? I used a bosch replacement filter (1987435001) recently and I had to shove it real hard before I could reseat the white slider.
I guess I'll buy that Mann filter next year instead.

Since you’re going to take the panel down and be in the filter housing anyway - might as well use a can or two of Kool-it to wash out the evaporator coil while you’re there. I’ve done this once a year for the last 3 years (right as ac season starts up) and it makes a huge difference in air quality in the car. There are YouTube videos on it, specifically for the W212 (it’s extremely easy). If you want to see how gross your evap coil can get after a year, just look under your car as the kool-it is draining out of the drain tube and taking the funk out of the coil fins with it. Amazon for about $10 a can. One should do, but two will totally do it without any doubt.

Thanks for the link. Thankfully I’m not getting mold smell, I meant smells from outside the cabin as I drive along, like skunk or animal poop.

Is that difference with right-hand steering with left-hand steering for AC filter?

Thanks for your suggestion. That's away cheaper than Liqui Moly's solution. I'll try it next AC filter changing.
