Group Buy For A Wireless Joyeauto CarPlay/Android Auto Retrofit
Update: This GB has been canceled due to a better, more affordable product now hitting the market, for older HU's using NTG 4.0. Simply buy directly from the company of your choice. Or here for example: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001...-06987-_ePNSNV
If anyone's interested in joining a group buy, this GB is for a wireless Joyeauto Apple CarPlay/Android Auto retrofit kit.../
Don't do it.
Do a group buy of one of the next-gen units. Save $100/unit and get a better solution. And yes, I have have both a Joyeauto unit in my E350 and a Road Top in the GL.

Yep, this appears to be a rebranded clone of the Andream unit. Road Top, Carlinkit, Indiwork, etc are other clones to name a few. So if you own NTG 4.5 or higher, go with one of those. Joyeauto supports NTG 4.0, whereas the others do not. YMMV
I've gone with a Limcet box for my NTG 4 that's being sold on AliExpress by several sellers (Kremersino for $318 and Sinairyu for $245). I ordered it last Wednesday, but it still hasn't shipped yet--so I don't have any feedback to share yet.

The pricing of the NTG 4.0 units is interesting... Joyaudio wants ~$450 for a unit, whereas that Sinairyu is $245. Is it the quality of the included harnesses? Software updates? Tech help? Warranty? Any expierence with these lower cost units?

That's the BIG question.
In the case of the NTG 4.5/4.7 units, the lower cost "next-gen" units are actually much better than the more expensive Joyeauto unit. The hardware is smaller, the wiring is greatly simplified, they use the MB mic for calls, and the software is also far more refined. The downside is Joyeauto has a website and publishes updates.
Many, if not all, of the next-gen 4.5/4.7 units look like identical re-branded hardware sold by different front companies. There's no assurance of any sort of support down the road.
Hopefully the folks that try these new 4.0 units will share their experiences.

The units posted by reject are potentially the "newer" units? Whats the "tell" if they are, i.e. how would you distinguish?

In the case of the wireless CarPlay/Android Auto NTG 4.0 and NTG 4.5/4.7 units, including Joyeauto, the previous gen ones looked like this (only different lettering on the case):
The next gen NTG 4.5/4.7 units look like this:
There are three big "tells" between the generations.
The earlier units required one to install a mic while the newer ones use the MB mic and thus also have better call quality
The newer units have a HDMI input
The newer units are smaller
Note that the video in first post in this thread links to a NTG 4.0 unit that does not match the exterior appearance of either of my examples above and also uses an external mic. Once somebody tries it out they will hopefully share their experience.

Hi - just found this thread. Since the group buy is canceled, what is the newer model? Thanks.
It's literally in the first post. That's the newer unit.
FWIW, that particular unit is also available directly from them on aliexpress.com. We know of at least three companies, and there's possibly more, that appear to sell identical units.

It's a newer unit. However, it doesn't look like the RoadTop unit and also doesn't look like the older Joyeauto unit either. It's the one shown in the video on the first post of the thread. There's a label on mine that has a revision date of 2020-07-17.

Reject, I’m getting extremely close to buying this unit for my NTG4.0 E Class. Let me know how it goes. I have the factory aux in the glove box and Harman kardon system. Thanks!
I know this might be dumb, but also wondering about the settings pages on the unit. All the videos are in China and the settings menus are in Chinese. Is that the case when you use your units? I know Carplay will be whatever language your phone is set to but, what about the settings menus? Very curious.

No, you shouldn't have to adjust anything in the UI regarding the settings for USA, although they can be adjusted for several different languages.
The Kremersino Ali site has the NTG4.0 unit on sale for $40 off today. I am probably going to purchase it. Can someone comment on their NTG4 model? How do you like it? There is a lot of support for 4.5+ but not much for 4.0. I will contribute as much as I can when I get mine but would also like to hear from others who have already installed the 4.0 unit. Anyone?
