Hi everyone, I noticed there was an identical pattern to both my headlight covers on my 2011 e550. Is there a reason why this happen? Also is there a way to fix it or am I better off purchasing a new cover?

yeah, nothing you can do to keep it from happening, it's where the concentrated light is passing through the lense. Some have had success with a particular chemical on a long stick to wipe the pattern from the inside of the lense, I'm sure it would happen even on new lenses.

If you search for V pattern on headlights you should find several threads. I think you need to live with it.

Yeah, it looks like you have the V pattern on the lights. You can also get headlight covers. It's a project to switch them though. They seem to be down in price, about $80 or so for the pair.

That's what I was thinking! Where did they all come from, I couldn't find one when I was looking. My '13 has the Xenon's I don't have any burn -in yet, but evidently they made three renditions of this headlight, by '13 they had more venting and less burn-in, then in 14 they changed to LED's. I don't know if you can use the '13 rendition in the '12, '11, and '10.

that is an interesting thought...my Buddy has a '13 with low miles. Lemme see if he has any issues and I'll report back.

That's interesting. Does anyone know where those magnetic cleaning pads can be found. I've searched, but I'm probably not using the correct terms.

I've seen them used by tropical fish tank cleaners, but they are usually an inch or larger in size.

If u are handy with crude sewing, use microfiber and insert these magnets in it
or, get cotton glove and cut the fingers off as "wipe cloth" if you dont want sewing.

Ask the inside of my left cover how a scratch got there.


I bought 2 new covers for 110.

And I am sending it out to get replaced.

I could get it replaced but this is something I would rather let a pro tackle.

I too had the dreaded V - and would love to get rid of it too...but 10 years of road stones have taken their toll...
