Brake pads Zimmerman

I've just replaced my brake pads at about 92k miles... Actually could probably have made it to 100k. The rotors only had a very slight lip (nope, no micrometer check... Just a thumbnail) (semi metallic original pads) so I did pads only.
I used Zimmerman semi metallics. Made in Germany. Test run was good, will chime back in if any problems occur down the road. The Z's were about half the price, and the autohaus rep I spoke with said they were great pads. We'll see.
Also, I researched forums and the consensus was akebonos (ceramic) were very good and low dust, but the original semi metallics had the best stopping power. As much as I would have liked lower dust, I was not willing to give up stopping power. Soooo, I'll just keep stocked up on Wesley's bleach white wheel cleaner!

8/10/21. 4 month update. Ive got about 5k miles on my zimmerman pads.
Pads have great stopping power. No difference from original. Glad i went
with these despite my frequently dirty rims.

1/23/2023. Update. I have about 108k on the car now. Still happy with Zimmerman pad purchase. Great, even stopping and pads have barely worn: expecting they'll last many many miles.

I've had great luck with Akebono pads. Very good braking power and less dust.

the brakes on my w212, which is pure stock Mercedes, seem almost TOO aggressive. I have to be really gentle to drive smoothly. A couple times, pulling up behind other stopped cars at a red light, when there have been stopped cars in the next lane, and I'm still rolling forward, and braking to stop before the guy in front of me, the brakes suddenly grabbed and hard slowed, more than I wanted. Still not enough to skid, hah, but I bet it takes a hellalot to make 245/45r17 Contis skid on dry pavement thats not greasy. even my 'luxobarge' e350 wagon can go scary fast on a narrow tight twisty road in the mountains without trying hard and with little drama.

I just replaced the front rotors with zimmermann drilled and so far they have been excellent (with OE MB pads). I see no reason for their pads to be of any less quality. Please keep us updated!

How long have you had the car? These were the first replacement of pads ever?

Same experience. The stock pads were too aggressive. Akebono Euros made them perfect. The low dust was just icing on the cake.

My car is a 2011 e350 blutec, I purchased in 2014 after a ladies lease was up. I got the car at about 23k miles, and now it's just rolled past 93k. Yes! first brake job for this car! Only one of the front brake pads was getting close to needing replacement. I'm not an aggressive driver, but I'm not a granny driver either : ). I also bought aftermarket pad sensors from autohauz (two sensors needed total), fit like OEM. I will keep y'all posted if anything changes.

I don't drive W212 much lately, but I put Akebono pads on W210.
After 80,000 miles the pads had less than 20% wear on them, what would make them about 400,000 miles item for me.
I sold the car shortly after that. and with 270,000 total miles it was still on factory rotors with lot of legal thickness remaining.
Only had to grind developed lips.
