Intake port measurements for walnut blast adapter.

Hello everybody,

I need to get my E350 CGI walnut blasted. I have everything except the little adapter that sits into the port and accepts the blaster nozzle and vacuum.

Does anybody know where I might get some measurements for the intake port on the M272.985 engine please?

If I can get them, I should be able to adapt one of the freely available designs for BMW engines.

On the other hand, maybe I just print one of the BMW ones with an oversized port side and shave it down to fit?

What have people done?

Thanks

M272 with multi-port injection, no? Usually intake deposits are more problematic on direct injected engines... do you suspect excessive build-up? Replacing both engine oil separators is common maintenance as the cars hit 100k miles. Usually the cam driven separator cover will start leaking... leading to early replacement. Its located on the passenger side bank, rear of engine. The other is on the drivers side, front of engine, looks like a black box on the cam cover with a rubber line to the TB.

Using a quality synthetic engine oil, top brand fuel (premium additives) and occasional fuel injector cleaner should be enough.

Hi @bmwpowere36m3

I have been lead to believe that you are correct for the regular M272 engine.

I have the CGI which is slightly different, and I believe it suffers from this problem. I can't find any material that specifies the types of fuel injection in each variant. I must check WIS but it's on the other computer.

I forgot to mention that I have replaced the PCV and other part of PCV already.

Oh really?

Damn, I thought the CGI was a big one in the US.

I guess there aren't many then, as Europe is more Diesel focused. Arrgh. lol.

I would do. In fact, if I want one. I might need to do that.. I can't seem to find anywhere.

Buy the seal #105 for intermediate flange, you need it anyway and use it as a template. That seal would be probably maximum 3-4mm bigger all around than actual port opening on the engine.
Go to my link below and you will know what I mean, yes my engine is the M276.820 3.0 Turbo and not 3.5 NA.

Item 105 : https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/mer...ing-2761410080

See the traces where my equivalent seal #105 was sitting on the intake manifold.

Below : Guesstimate where the seal #105 was seating at

This is the equivalent of my seal of #105 if it were for your engine

Good luck..............
