E550 V8 star on the engine cover?
Hey, apparently, a star from my engine cover fell of and I hate how it looks! Does anyone know where I can order one or a part number for it? Also, does anyone know where I can order stock air intake tubes? Mine are starting to break!

You might need to swap the whole cover, the part number should be A2730101967

If not, if you can please provide your VIN number then I will be able to confirm.

Alternatively, since you can't order that star separately (not that I am aware of) I wonder if you can buy one of the MB stars installed on the rear of the vehicle where the trunk is and put one in the 3 slots where the original one was on the engine cover, I wonder if the size is too big or too small.

You are very welcome, happy to help. The part number for the engine cover should match the VIN you provided.

I will just throw the part number of your rear Mercedes star in case you need it: A2128170016
Edit: I was thinking since you can't buy the engine cover star separately, you could probably find a replica somewhere or if someone for some reason has an extra one they can sell.

Here is another thought
I wonder if the wheel hub caps will work
Edit: Just throwing some ideas, measure the one on the steering wheel too. This one is unlikely to fit but in case it does. Oh and the hood badge (not the standing star, the one on the grille I mean) too.

Pretty much any glue should work. My did break off, but I was just able to glue it back on, maybe it was gorilla glue. Also there are some MB's in the junkyard these days, I wonder if the star from other years/engines would work. Was at a few pick and pull yards last week, but many of them were pretty well stripped, lots of the smaller engine parts were gone and no sign of any MB hood star.

Here is another thread on this topic, including 3D printed version replacements... I would let hell freeze over before I bought a whole engine cover (that no one sees) for an 11 year-old car...

Local libraries often have 3D printers, some will have metallic reinforced plastic if you request it.
Also, check "Thingiverse" and search for MB star files. https://www.makerbot.com/thingiverse/
Here is a flat star that can be resized to the correct dimensions... https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1552272
