Hi I’ve got a problem with my E class w212 350 diesel bluetec
The problem I’ve got is sometimes first thing in the morning when I start the car when I put it to drive or reverse the car for a short time stalls but then when it gets hotter it doesn’t do that anymore what do you think the issue is
Plus sometimes it takes too long to start on the morning

Q: Hard to start diesel with poor cold idle.... ok at operating temperature.
A: Have you scanned your car to see if the glowplug heater shows active faults ?

yes the car is been scanned 3 times in different garage and showing no-fault or no engine light comes on when it does that One of The garages told me is the airflow meter to be replaced, then I took it somewhere else And they told me no nothing to do with airflow meter because if it’s airflow meter it should give you a code on the computer which she doesn’t I don’t know can I replace the airflow meter?
then I took it to First diesels injectors in Croydon they told me you’ve got air leak somewhere but I can’t find it where is The problem is because the car doesn’t do that all the time he does it properly once a week or once a month for example specially when it’s too cold when the the car is parked and even for example up the hills when the car is parked one side up at one side down then it does it
and the only does it for short seconds till the car gets hotter than when it gets hotter starts no problem drives problem

thank you
kind regards Osi Dibrani

NO code for sure but possible unmetered air leak...

What is your odometer mileage... greater than 80kMi ?

I am thinking, time to replace the plastic "PCV Valve".

if I had your diesel with no code, I'd buy a thermal camera to compare each individual glowplugs heat up equally without wiring drop issue.

I don't know how long is the expected design life of these modern glowplugs... 50, 100kMi?

I think an air leak would just help rev up the idle a bit

Are the battery voltage and alternator output as expected? Try floating your battery to see if you have any improvement when cold.

The plastic PCV is about ready to be replaced. Its rubber seal and diaphragm are not long lived. Usually people replace the PCV plastic conduit ducts that get brital with engine heat. Have a look.

easy or Not

I think bad PCV would give similar bias hot or cold so your stumbling cold idle problem is a bit more tricky... high pressure pump causing lack of engine power.

Take a look at the live ODBC data to see if anything jumps at you, like Pressure regulator, Alternator voltage, Glowplugs, Temp sensor...

@kajtek1 knows these diesel engine well. Hopefully he'll stop by to help ya.

The tag worked as I got email notification
Can you specify what you mean by "stall" ?
Is the engine dying and you have to restart it?
When I am not sure if that might be engine, or transmission issue, I always advise to start with basics.
Get new air and fuel filter, run engine smooth test.
"no codes" very often means that the shop doesn't have good MB scanner.
With MB-oriented scanners selling for less than $100 - there is no good excuse to not own 1, so you can tell us what is happening, not what mechanics tell you.
