Parktronic & DISTRONIC - Front parking sensors and radar

So I just purchased a 2016 E250 thats fully loaded, but when I picked it up the parking sensors in the front were all taken out of the bumper and disconnectred with the wiring harness and were put in the trunk. I want to install them since its not working and Distronic is also not working, which i assume is because the parking sensors are disconnected. But i noticed I am missing 3 of the sensors. After calling the dealer to find out the part number for them I was told there is two different ones. The outer most right and left are different then the ones in the middle. They gave me the part number for each ones but how do I find out which one is which and which ones i need to order? Also the wiring harness has the main connector that connects to a connector leading to the module i assume, it has all the connectors for the sensors, but than i also saw that it has two additional connectors and i have no clue where they connect to. I cant find anything online and the dealer service manual is no big help with the parking sensors. Can someone help me out here, would be much appreciated.

On a side not would my blind spot assist or Distronic system also not work if the parking sensors arent functioning?

water damaged

Congratulations for your fine taste. These cars new or used can be really appealing.

The comon theme you are dealing with is the front/rear bumper sensors are not waterproof. Water usually finds its way through the connector.

Repairs can involve new wiring harness and new modules, unless if you are crafty. It's not extremely difficult to waterproof these modules but involve the time consuming fun of dropping front bumper skin. Rear is more accessible.

Yeah it looks great no doubts there. But is the Distronic and lane keep assist interconnected with the parking sensors? Because from what i can tell i dont have the front plugged in but nothing works. No adaptive cruise, lane keep assist, or steering assist.

You bought this car knowing those sensors had been removed and Distronic wasn’t functioning? I hope you got a great deal on it

Yup. If I showed up to a car with parts missing, I would have turned around and walked away.

Blind spot monitoring is monitored by sensors behind the rear fender covers, not the round sensors...
I believe lane keeping assist is monitored by the camera in front of the rear view mirror....

So... if these are not working, you have more challenges than just reinstalling bumper sensors.

^ Exactly, repairing the proximity sensors will not have any effect on Lane Keeping or Distronic. They are controlled by cameras.

Is there a way that i can diagnose this? I had my headlights not working properly that was resolved with a new fuse. I'm wondering if there is a fuse for this system aswell. I just got back from camping so I'll be checking that out later today. If it's not a fuse is there any way to narrow down the problem?

Yes I did get it for it steal of a deal. 🙂. I knew that the system was inoperative. The previous owner told me that it's due to the front parking sensors not plugged in. So I need to order the two front side ones I'm missing and see if the system will work.

I read up on that when researching my issue. You would think that MB would think of waterproofing something that is exposed to the environment. Um a pretty handy guy so ill see of its possible to test the radars. I heard the rear requires the rear bumper dropped. Not sure how to get to the front ones.

Here are the sensor part #s. Install missing sensors, harness. etc. you will most likely need someone with Xentry (MB diagnostics) to initiate system(s) and clear codes. Attached driver assistance guide to better understand systems as equipped:

233 distronic plus
235 active parking assist w/parktronic
237 active blind spot assist
238 active lane keeping assist

Thank you for all the info, going to study it and use the newly info. I have an older version of WIS. Ordered a new harness with all sensors that should come in soon so it will be a plug and play. One thing I cant figure out, the front harness has one main connector that connects the harness and sensors with the vehicle, 6 connectors that are for all the 6 sensors, but than it also has 2 other connectors one in R.S. and one at the L.S., and I cant find the female connector where it plugs into to the vehicle. Is there a diagram for this?

Don’t have access to pull wiring info at the moment search WIS/EPC for part #s stamped on each connector may provide a lead.
