Is this normal when selecting Reverse???

My car is a Japanese import into Australia,

Is this annoying 'bong bong bong sound standard in this model or is it a Japanese thing when you select reverse?

Sounds like the "Backup Warning" signal typical of a delivery truck. Maybe Japanese Wagon builds are classified with trucks?

To answer your question, it's NOT typical for any E-Class in the States, sedan or wagon..

Hmmm...That sound is supposed to happen only when doors are open and the vehicle is in gear to warn the risk of roll-away.

Another good suggestion... And, in your other thread, Is see you're having problems with an airbag.

I think coding should make this go away or deactivating chime module too . However, it's not that annoying as much as I find in Rolls Royce Silver Spur / Spirit / Dawn Series when you start the engine

yeah not off to a good W212 start to be honest, hoping the AirSpring is an easy fix and the Hidden Menu might have a fix for this damn noise.

2014 E550-sold 😩
It is the seat belt chime sound and that would drive me nuts if it happens all the time when reversing. Definitely get that remedied

If it is the seat belt chime, I would connect all the belts to see if the chime goes away. If it does, then start disconnecting the rear belts (one by one), then pass. front... until the chime returns. That will give you an idea of which belt causes the problem.

If it's the rear seat belts causing the problem, remove the rear seat bottom and test some more without the seat in place...

The seat belt chime is easily disabled with Launch/Star/Whatever tool you have that can converse with the car.
I bet the reverse chime is as well, but don't have personal experience.
