Broken Hood Release
Hello all. Looks like the cable that releases the hood is now broken on my 2016 E350 4M wagon. Is this an easy DIY thing ? Has to be easy because I have no driveway, My alternative will be the stealer. The loaner will make up and likely break even with my indy + back and forth Uber.
Any thoughts, advice, guidance or feedback is highly appreciated.
Thank you.

how did that happen?
The hood has 2x latches, one each side. If i recall correctly that story: the plastic stopper brakes up then the cable is no longer able to pull on one of the latches ... hood stays shut!
You need to try to gain access to that hood cable by opening the driver side wheel liner and reaching up.
Pull on the cable directly. It will need to be replaced new so feel free to cut, slice through it to pull the latches open.
Replacing that cable run will require disassembling latches and footwell cover. I can see spending a couple DIY hours or 1 dealer hour using published procedure.
If your lucky @konigstiger will drop his selected publications to augment your abilities.
For everyone else lubricate your latches mechanism and zip tie cables put before this standard drama comes to play.
In addition weatherize the exposed sensor wiring connections...

So, I finally got to it, the hood cable pull, and the good news is that nothing is broken. The cable apparently came off the guide - 2nd pic. Is the fix as simple as putting a couple of wire zip ties around the guide to prevent this from reoccurring? Or replace the pull ? Which btw does not have any screws ?
Someone also suggested that this went bad and should be covered under warranty.
Your feedback is welcome and appreciated.
While at that I have also found another potential issue and have a video below showing a wobbly pulley but I don't know enough to identify what part is it attached to. If it wasn't for the belt moving with it, I wouldn't have had noticed. I could not attach the video for some reason but here is a link. https://photos.app.*******/psouy4AuhSUhtc4R7

If it is under warranty, I would take it to the dealer. Let them repair it, and likely they will know why (internal technical note/tip)
