My first service after buy

Hello,

As I bought E350 2014 that was imported from 4 months from USA.

The car have full service history every 10k mile from 2014 to 2022 until the front end collision and parked for 8 months in the bids yard. From service reports shows that car service every 10k mile and air filter replaced, oil and filter replaced, brakes, brake pads, brake fluids and spark plugs and many so does that mean at 80k mile service transmission fluid and filter replaced since in service history didn't mention engine or transmission only oil and filter changed.

. second point

Lebanese seller after repairing the minor front end damage and fix the coolant hose. He replaced engine oil before buy using 10w40 oil which it is not 229.5 and using tap water only for coolant. So I wish to replace engine oil with MB 229.5 5W40 and new original filter as Exclusive MB authorized dealer will replace it only with 110$ and he will sell me 2 antifreeze bottle about 28 $.
I will ask him how much coolant flush cost at hos service center if it will be the same as oil since no Labors for oil replacement.
How I can flush the coolant and remove air from coolant system?

your dealer has really good princing for coolant

Apparently dealing with MB coolant change requires a vacuum tool to prevent large air pockets.

While you are dealing with coolant BYPASS THE HEATER CORE PIPES to prevent 200F heating up the cabin -

Here is a video showing the procedure. I find it too involved, but the main point as @CaliBenzDriver mentioned is that system must be vacuumed or guaranteed not to have air pockets. Air pockets --> overheating.

Now regarding the service:
1 - The car is already 9 years old and sat for a while --> Change all fluids: engine, transmission, brake, coolant (more below on this one), etc regardless of mileage.
2 - Coolant: ASAP get rid of tap water out of that system. Even to dilute the coolant you should be using distilled water.
3 - The climate and driving conditions in Lebanon are more demanding than in the south USA, and many in the forum have already changed the oil engine service interval from 10K miles to 5K miles (myself included) to prevent early damage to the engine.
4 - I am not sure about the transmission service, but yours is overdue, and once you do it you have time to rethink when the next one is. My initial guess drop from 70K miles to 50 K miles or 35K miles. We may need more data on that. Shorter is better than longer, so no harm except our wallets.

If that engine require coolant bleeding, that would be 1st MB engine I heard requiring it.
When changing the coolant, you also need to replace chem pack, who is build into reservoir.
For flush, get a lot of Distillate Water, drain what you have, refill with DW, drive for few miles, opening heater core, drain, refill, repeat till you are comfortable with what comes out.
For final coolant fill, I check what is the system capacity, add 50% of it with coolant, top off with DW.
Drive till engine reaches 80C and thermostat opens, pull over and top off again.

Thanks a lot.

I called the MB Exclusive dealer and he told me that replace the coolant and engine oil + filter will cost me around 250$ or less so I will book service by next month or at May to do ot at dealer as It is not too much than do it my self since I don't have the tools to DIY and I am not trust independent mechanics to perform it even it will cost me less than 130$ . I will check with them about transmission fluids too .
What do you think?

That sounds perfect.

Note it is up to you to request for the services you want.

Don't rely on the service center to second guess what you want them to work on.

Coolant flush vs. coolant top off Transmission oil + filter
Brakes fluid replacement

It's cheaper to maintain MB than repair.

For $250 I would not think twice about taking it to the dealer service. But I don’t know what the cost level in your area is? That money for me is very low for the services you mention but it may be a different story in your area.

In my area it depend on the car it self, I went to my previous mechanic about this service, he told me that each quartz of oil about 15$ so it will cost me around 115$ engine oil and for Coolant it will cost me less than 60$ and around 80$ for tranny but I am sure will not use MB standard for coolant with tap water and the same for tranny so it will as max 250$ or less, so first service with dealer at least coolant + engine oil + transmission fluid(300~400$) will be better, then I can change oil only at my mechanic once a year or every 9 months as I can use MB OIL 229.5 with filter since coolant and transmission will be every 3 or 4 years minimum.
Even 350$ over 4 years so less than 90$ cost per year it is cheap.
My issue now that registration office in strike and still my car not registered and the dealer away from home around 100 KM so waiting to register my car to service a book.

I think for the coolant it's something like 15 years/150k so you've got a while to go. Only reason you're doing it now is because of a past screw up. I think the tranny might be something like 6 years/60k so unless you drive a lot, you probably have a little time before having to do it again. Distilled water is cheap in the US, used to be about $1 but even with inflation still under $2 a gallon. Should mix it with the coolant in advance.

Hello, I did the first service last Friday at MB authorized and exclusive dealer in Lebanon and Middle East for details below:
When sitting with the service advisor he told me that the car requires Service A which will check 38 points of service (like fluids replacement, brakes filters and etc...) and the cost will 1200$, but he told me you can do from this service whatever you want or you can do it during this year if you wish, so we decided to replace engine fluids and filter with coolant replacement (will cost about 300$) and in the coming week we will replace tranny fluids/filter with spark plugs and air filters.
After 2 hours, they brought the car with the following.
Change engine fluid (7 quarts MB 5w40 oil and OEM filter) 1 quartz with cost 12.3$ and filter 22$
Coolant replacement with 2 bottles 325.6 each cost 12.7$ and others about 35$.
Wash the car.

Total cost wit VAT 180$ less than the advisor mention as they didn't charge me labor.
After that I bought from them Auxiliary batter OEM with 150$ since Auxiliary battery malfunction on dash always was displayed. (replaced yesterday by myself), Hold options worked fine and no error at dash again.

Note: This is the my first Dealer service I did it ever but it is really nice.

Those cars have chem pack in the coolant reservoir, who gives coolant 15 years life.
When you change the coolant, you also should change the chem pack, aka reservoir.

How I know if the dealer change the chem pack. did I need to ask for adding it or this service included. How can I see it in my reservoir.
If I haven't it what is the interval for coolant replacement.

look at the bill, or call your friendly SA
Chem pack replacement is MB requirement, so if they did not replace it - that's a neglect.

Today continue the first service of the car as I did the following at MB exclusive dealer:

1. Replace transmission fluid (6 quartz of A000989440411)
2 Oil filter A2222772800
3. Gasket A2202710380
4. Brake fluids 1 quartz A0009895605/11
Plus labor.
With price 353 USD after getting discount 15% from the dealer.

What do you think is that sound is good, what do you advice for other services to be done.
(Air filters will be replaced at next engine oil service as the dealer request)
My car now 131Kmiles, Brakes, brake pads and spark plugs was replace while it was on 111KMiles.
Another question, i got from dealer MB SummerFit. 40 ml, how i can use it in the windshield washer tank.

I use the concentrate. I mix it ONLY with distilled water and make enough to fill the washer fluid reservoir. I do NOT mix it with previous "other stuff".

It works great for me. Cleans the grime out of the windshield w/o to many bubbles or soap-like stuff.

On the price of the service, it depends on the country. For the US-based owners, that price is a bargain, scary to say the least. Here the transmission fluid dealer service is @$600, engine oil service is @$250, and brake fluid flush (if that is what you got) is @$150+ (do not recall exactly). You bet I do not take my vehicle to the dealer.

Thanks I will try to add the whole 40ml in the tank with water.
In my country, the parts price is the same or higher than USA, but labor is very cheap since As I send them the car Yesterday morning and get it today as per the bills Labor only 162$ as you can see in the attachments, this is the difference between my country and yours.

I only mix about a cap of the bottle with a gallon of distilled water. Never the whole bottle. It is a concentrate to mix with distilled water to make the mixture @1 gallon per measure. It is not an additive.

Are there any instructions on your bottle?

The stuff I have is strong. I have probably used only 3 caps of the bottle until now. Let me read it and let you know.

Really no idea about the instruction as I didn't check it yet but this is its picture as it is only 40ml.

So you can mix a gallon of distilled water, or a bit more with the whole bottle.
