Help Needed Installing CPS on a 2012 E350 M276 engine

Hello:
I have a 2012 e350 m276 with 123000 miles on it. One day, it started running rough and the CEL came on. I took it to autozone to have it diagnosed and it returned with p0300, p0302 and other misfire codes.
The recommendation was to change the crankshaft position sensor.
From all the blogs that I've read, they say the cps should be on the driver side on the bell housing; but lo and behold I have looked above and below the engine and I have no idea where it is.
Does anyone have experience changing their cps? Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

CKP is under a metallic cover on driver side, below ECT which is higher up on the cylinder head.

I don't think changing CKP will help solve misfire... where did you gather that info?

Misfire can involve bad timings but CKP readily stops the engine... unlikely here, right?

Look towards these in that order :
  1. ignition parts (plugs/boots/coils) or
  2. low fuel pressure (filter/HPFP) or
  3. lean Lambda trims (2x upstreams) or
  4. PCV, VVT, CPS, Tensioners...

Mercedes M276 engine failures and performance issues are non-trivial. You'll need your own scanner to help doctor this without a parts-canon.
🤞

Thank you for your help. The cps replacement was what autozone recommended when they plugged the reader into their system. Would you have a picture or diagram of the exact location?
Thanks

Check out this misfire troubleshooting video
I haven't bought any part yet. A genuine cps is around $60 at the local MB dealer. I figured if i can change the cps myself and this solves, the misfire, then I'm ok. If it doesn't , then you are right- I have to get a scanner and move on to the next steps.

Folks, crank position sensor failures usually result in no-start, not misfire.

Cam position sensor failures due to oil penetration result in misfire.

@mangyan open the cam position sensors and cam magnet harness connectors and look for signs of oil. Report back with the results.

Its the way this forum has a 2nd similar post connected to the main post......... so when you scroll down too fast, you land on the other related post and missed
the actual post. I got screwed like twice already hahahaha
