2011 W212 - Whistling/Squeaking sound when accelerating

Hi all,

I am having a noise issue when I accelerate. Initially I thought it was brakes as it would squeak when I would brake. Took it to dealership, and it was resolved when they installed new brake pads and rotors.

Immediately after picking up my vehicle and driving it back home, I noticed the sound was gone when I would brake. But there was a new sound when I would accelerate and it appears to be coming from the engine. Took it back to the dealership twice now and they cannot seem to find the issue, but do acknowledge that there is a noise. They checked EVERYTHING and said it’s good, including all belts and pulleys. In fact they even lubed up the belts the 2nd time around thinking the noise would go away but it didn’t.

Attaching 2 short videos for reference of the sound which you can hear at the beginning as I begin to accelerate. It continues and never stops, but due to the size and length I cut the clips short.

ANY help is much appreciated.

Sorry, don't hear anything unusual. No squeaking, etc.

But if you hear it, it is likely a vacuum leak somewhere. You don't have a turbo.

sounds ok

+1 I side with JR: it sounds like a good car.

Not belt and not brakes...
PCV whistling?

The release to open the engine hood is located on the driver side. Perhaps better chance to hear and identify something there.

What's the mileage and service record???
🤞

Can hear the faint squeaking sounds, if you bounce the car can you hear it? does it sound like is associated to going over bumps?

Do you hear the noise when Park and free revving?
Do you hear it stalling the car up on the brakes?

I know how annoying it can be to track down sounds, I've been trying to nail one down for over a year.

I can hear the high frequency sound. It is metallic sound.
Like a light rubbing metal to metal.

Yes, this is the SOUND. Drove today and realized I should’ve said it’s more of a metal grinding on metal noise.

Nope, nope, nope, and nope. The noise starts the second I turn my car on and accelerate, and stops when I brake. It’s a continuous noise (sometimes higher pitch or lower) as I’m driving.

Try to inspect heat shield near propeller shaft tunnel. See anything is touching the propeller/main shaft from tranny to differential. The nylon plastic nut get lost often at that area
I got twice weird case, read here : https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...expensive.html

Is the issue solved ? I’m experiencing the same with my E250 W212 2014. Noise starts around 80km/hr

My front rotors were glazed and would cause noise when rubbing against the brake pads so replaced both and that fixed it.

Coincidentally, I am having the same issue again which appears to be coming from the rear rotors/brake pads.
