E550 tq converter rebuilder

I have an E550 4Matic with the dreaded shudder. Any recommendations on reputable torque converter rebuilders for the 722.9? I've looked around a bit but getting mixed reviews. Thanks.

What's the dreaded shudder?

Just because I asked what the OP meant by something as vague as "the dreaded shudder", does not mean that I have never come across a shudder.

It helps to be specific.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day.

I'm getting some vibration when I accelerate on the highway. It is most likely due to the torque converter. 722.9 trans builders recommend a rebuilt stock unit.

A reputable mechanic I use, said converters built by the same company can be unpredictable and had no recommendations.

Back in the old days of forums, I would have a lot more to say, but I'm not sure what's acceptable anymore. I think we're just supposed to ignore you or pretend you're being genuine, so from now on I'm going with the former.

There are a number of reasons you could experience vibration when accelerating on the highway. What points you towards the TC specifically?

During straightline acceleration, say 40-70, I'll get a shudder (or slipping) type feeling. It feels a lot like something is slipping (like clutches aren't fully engaging) and the acceleration will be impacted. I.e. accelerating slower due to slipping. If I take my foot off the throttle and reengage and it occasionally stops and the car will accelerate normally again.

Interestingly, if I start from a dead stop and go full throttle (or more than half), I have not experienced the shuddering.

Regarding the tq conv, I spoke with reputable builder, Southern Hotrods, and he recommended a genuine MB remanu unit. There are other rebuilders out there, but I don't have quality information regarding reviews.

Thanks.
