MB229.71 spec motor oil
I was in a local auto parts store and saw some mobile one 0w20 oil that meets spec mb229.71. Suitable for a 2012 W212 with the M276 v6?

I thought only 229.5 is suitable?

"MB approved" is for Mercedes just not every engine.

The engine oil you use is very important for its longevity.

MB dealers routinely use 0w-40 or 5w-40 on M276 engines... shortening interval to 5kMi max. is an improvement over IC "Interval minder".

I would definitely stick with the oil recommended for your engine. New oil and new standards may not be the best for a 13 year old engine. 0W-20 is way too thin for my taste. I'm currently using 5W-40 in both my M276 engines.

Find ur engine in the attachment and see the type/specification to use

If urs is M272 or M276, use only 229.5
