Ceramic Paint Coating and Rustproofing
Has anyone used Ceramic Pro or other ceramic coatings on the Eclass? Can you recommend someone in the Toronto Area?
My dealer was offering the electronic rust control module and I declined it as I have read that it does not work. He told me that Mercedes does not recommend rust sprays. This seems unlikely to me. What have you heard and have you used rust proofing sprays? Thanks!

Ceramic coatings are also mostly snake oil basicly a longer lasting polymer based wax that contains ceramic microparticles which more than anything serve as an abrasive. Contrary to the BS it doesnt form a ceramic "shield" of any sort which would take a kiln to melt it.

No manufacturer recommends rustproofing because its pure BS, in fact, it may promote corrosion if it blocks the water draining gutters. Moreover new vehicles are made with aluminum and plastic plus every exposed steel part is coated, ergo, many vehicles are virtually corrosion proof.

Simple, there is no need for additional rust protection. Again, modern vehicles replace most areas prone to rust with plastic, most exterior surfaces plus the suspesion are rust proof aluminium. Your E class' engine will probably be dead a long time before it rusts through.

Sure does! As cars endeavor to be lighter rust will be a thing of the past. One problem however that manufactures face is how to maintain the old fashion klunk of the door since they are much lighter and "tinnier."
