Navigation & iPhone: "Address Incomplete"

I recently purchased a 2018 E400 Coupe. I have synced the car's system to my iPhone. However, when I tell the system to navigate to an address shown on the list displayed on the car's screen (i.e., the address it has found on my iPhone), I get a message saying "Address Incomplete" and telling me to add the missing information — but nothing's missing! The display shows the house address, street name, city, state, and zip code. Any ideas on how to get around this? BTW, the phone is an old iPhone 5, soon to be upgraded.

To enter addresses use the Mercedes me app. works flawlessly. You can enter the address any time even the night before the trip and its thus immediately available when you start the car. I really don't get the fascination with using either apple or android car play they are truncated, buggy duplication of the in car systems.

Thanks, I am aware of the "Me" app, and it does work well.

As for the fascination, I have 1,804 entries in my iPhone's contacts list, which it captures from my Outlook e-mail program, and I don't want to waste time having to look up the one I want, enter the address in the Me app, and what for the directions to be sent to my car. The car's software seems to be messed up in this regard.

The issue is most likely in the format Apple uses for contacts/addresses. The MB synchronization works perfectly with my Android devices.

I suspect you're right, but given the wide popularity of the iPhone, you'd think this problem would have been addressed. MB must be aware of it, so there is probably a fix somewhere.

Are all of the contacts getting errors or only selected entries?
Have you tried various address formats, adjusted abbreviations, etc.?
At one time nav software required standard post office lingo such as st instead of street, oh instead of ohio, ...

All that I have tried have resulted in the "address incomplete" error.

I just got off the phone with MB and the representative I spoke with confirmed that they are aware of the problem with iPhones and the car's inability to recognize words like "Avenue," "Street," etc. He said that he was not aware of a workaround but did say that their tech people are supposed to be working on a fix but had no idea when that might be issued. He did say he would forward my issue to higher management.

In the meantime I did edit a couple of addresses, shortening "Avenue" to Ave," etc., and will test them with the car later today.

I infer from your comment that the problem existed in the past but was fixed in a more recent version of the software. Is that correct? I ask because this is occurring with my 2018 E400 Coupe, one of MB's newest models.

I was referring to generic automobile navigation software from my past experiences as a software professional. My comment was not brand or model specific. There are only about a half dozen different systems worldwide that are simply tweaked for each vehicle manufacturer. That said, Daimler may be branching off on their own rather than starting with a code base from say, Bosch.
