2018 E300 - Selective Damping

I believe the 2018 E300 comes with Selective Damping, Does anybody know if this is similar to Airmatic? Does it basically go from like comfort to Sport?

Not as standard, selective damping is only available with the options Airmatic or ADS

Changing the dynamic drive mode will do nothing to the chassis on a vehicle not equipped with the above mentioned systems.

On my build it has code 677 and the description is lowered suspension w/selective damping which is a 2018. I have a 2017 build as well (which i didnt get) that shows code 677 with just sports tuned suspension for sport.

anyone with a 2018 can confirm?

2018 E300 Luxury - P3 and more
My understanding is that ALL of them have something called 'Selective Damping'. Even the MBUSA site shows this (take a look at the Luxury package description). BUT it's not what we're thinking. All of their suspensions have what THEY call selective damping, which is how the suspension reacts to various imperfections in the road surface. On the non-Airmatic cars, the selective damping uses a series of valves in the struts to have the car react appropriately to small bumps vs. big bumps. You don't want the suspension come close to bottoming out for every single bump. This also means less body roll.

If you have Airmatic, this all happens with the electronics and airbags.

According to page 5 of the brochure - it looks like depending on the transmission Comfort Spot and Sport plus - the damping is adjusted. SWEET!

It is not correct, SA 677 is non adjustable, and furthermore it is not possible to lower the vehicle on the fly without Airmatic.

It is my understanding the capability is built into the struts themselves and is passive, e.g., not driver adjustable.
