W213 Battery location

I'm coming from the BMW world and new to MB. I'm trying to learn more about my E400S which arrived yesterday after European delivery, and the owners manual is full of legal jargon and light on information. e.g. even the engine oil specification is not given

Where is the battery located? Am I correct that W213 (E400) has only one battery, and not two as in W212?

There's not a lot out there on the web for DIY on the E400, which is not surprising as its a newish model, but its now 2nd year of production, so videos on how to remove engine covers, change oil, filters etc would be great, as would how to reset service counter. I used to do all this on the BMW, but MB seems not to want owners to look under the hood?

2019 E450 sedan
While awaiting replies, I’d like to ask how was The European delivery experience?
I am considering it when I order my E450 sedan soon.
Also, what major options did you select and are you satisfied so far?

Thanks

Search the ED forum: I posted a trip report, and the options on the car, which should answer your questions, but if you have more, happy to respond.

Though I have an E300, the User Manual shows (page 344) the exact location of the battery in the engine compartment. The E400 battery should be in the same location.

The E400 owners manual is 'improved'. The location of the battery is now a trade secret! I'm guessing its in rear/left of engine compartment, where the jump start terminals are, but in my BMW the terminals are also at the front, while the battery is in the trunk. Is E300 W212?

Why don't you simply raise the hood and take a peek? I doubt if the battery is relocated to a different spot than the many other E Class models.

As mentioned in an earlier post I'm new to MB, coming from 10 years of BMW, so I don't know where things were in earlier models. Under the hood of the E400, there is just acres of plastic (like most cars these days) hiding everything of interest, and removing the plastic shielding without breaking clips etc, takes knowledge I don't yet have for this vehicle.

There is nothing to break. The cover is a soft flexible material.

In an E400 wagon, I believe it is in the rear but I have yet to locate it. The charging post is in the front.

From what I can see in EPC it seems like the battery is in the engine compartment on all versions of 213.

See post by UA549 above. The E400 battery is under the hood, buried under two separate layers of plastic!

No, in the engine compartment (under the plastic cover shield on the right side).

Thanks for letting me know. On my W211 wagon, it was clearly visible under some carpeting in the cargo area.

I am starting to get a low battery warning when the car sits for a week or more. I guess the battery is getting weak?
I do have a charger for storage of a month or more.

Wondering what is the recommended battery and if you need to tell the computer you changed it?

200 is greyed out not applicable, 30 is grommet to battery vent line, 10 is your battery. Want confirmation post VIN.

What is the part number?

Interestingly the Exide shows no battery to fit and so does Walmart.

Open the gas flap and scan the barcode on it. It will tell you where all the batteries are and where all the airbags, gas tank and other safety devices are.

Now that is something I didn't know - it's great!
Built for emergency responders, but great for us laymen too.
