Hard wire radar detector
Hey, first post
My wife just got an E300, FWIW I drive it on a decent road trip over NYE and like it a lot.
Anyway, want to put the radar detector in and can’t find a fuse box diagram so I can piggyback on a switchable fuse.
Anyone got got a fuse diagram or hardwired a detector in their car?
thanks a lot

Congrats on the car - you will love it!
This topic has been discussed on here a few times, I never found a good source of switched power anywhere near the front of the car. The fuse diagram is tucked in pocket to the right in the trunk.
For certain E400/E450 models, there is an additional cigarette lighter under the glove box, that would work great - I don't have it in my E300, and I know of others who don't either.
Definitely worth a search of this forum for ideas... And best of luck with the car.

ua549, thanks so much for sharing these files, incredibly useful. I had NO IDEA the 12V plug was hidden down there way under the glove box. I guess I've been too busy sorting out all the other functions of the wagon and listening to the exhaust note. Thanks again! Lennie

Not every car has those 12v plugs. It depends on the options ordered. My W213 does not have any 12v plugs in the front. The center console has a 110v AC plug on the rear.

See the link a few posts up (ua549). I plethora of useful files, diagrams and other info. I completed my V1 hardwire this weekend in about an hour.

I believe it's a function of build date, not options ordered. AFAIK, only early-production cars don't have the 12V socket in the passenger footwell area. The 110V socket is an option.

I meant specifically which one. I looked at them but couldn't find what you were talking about.

"W213 Tap to Switched Power" - I modified the procedure on my car for tapping the power, but extremely useful IMHO. Good luck.
