2021 E450W4: Green Ready Light on dash

Just picked up the new ride, a dizzying set of display options - many better, some worse than the 2018 I came from.

For the life of me, I cannot find why this green "READY" light is on the lower instrument cluster. Ready for what? Searched all the documents I could find.

Anyone know?

It's an easy answer. The "READY" light tells you that the engine is still on, even if it is only the electric motor. A reminder to shut the engine off before getting out of the vehicle. With the car in park, it is still "READY" to drive, even if the gasoline portion of the engine is switched off. It took me a while to figure it out in my new E450.

2016 C300 4Matic traded in for a 2022 E450 Coupe
Took a MY21 E53 Coupe on a long test drive yesterday. Very nice ride but I was concerned this might be “more car” than I need vs the E450. Did any of you with a MY21 E450 consider the E53? Local dealer has one E53 coupe on the lot but a big fat zero on the E450 Coupes. I did previously test drive the E450 sedan but I’m looking to move on to a coupe.

Appreciate any comments.

I considered and test drove a 21 E53 because I couldn't get the HUD and ventilated seats I wanted in an E450 anywhere locally. But the ride was too stiff for my tastes. My salesman was able to find a match E450 in Maine and I paid to have it shipped to California. I don't need the heated rear seats, but every option is one I would have ordered.

We've had the E53 for two years now and I'd never figured out what it meant until now. Yes, I know that I should have RTFM but it's the wife's car and I couldn't be arsed.

Another difference between the E53 and E450 is if you want leather seats on the E53 you are forced to get Nappa Leather, which is a $3,000 option. On the E450 you can get MB-Tex (free) or standard leather for $1,620. (Nappa leather is also available on the E450 for $3K). I personally have never liked Nappa leather. It looks great when it's new, but it creases and shows it's age too soon, so that eliminates the E53 from my choices.
