Radar Sensor
I'm not talking about the small sensors dotted around the bumper itself.
There's a main squarish histrionic unit hidden somewhere.
I've been under the car and can't find it.
I have the "Radar sensor dirty" message. Cleaned the front unit behind the grill star throughly - many times.
No cruise, no proximity sensors, no lane changing or keeping assist.
No codes.
VIN is Australian delivery : WDD2130042A324857 - Built Aug 2017.
bought a couple of months ago with 5000 miles. (8000 kilometres)
First job I did was swap 20 inch AMG wheels to 18inch.
Dealership did their scanning and found that the front sensor bracket which holds some electronics is faulty.
Cost of the new part - AUS$ 4,100 plus $ 850 for it to be fitted and the Distronic radar recalibrated.
Part failed in heavy rain. - at the time with 7000 miles only.
Lucky I'm not paying, but this begs the question.
When the car is out of warranty am I actually game enough to drive the car in a heavy tropical rainpour.

The good news is that the dealer found the problem, and will fix it in warranty. Chances are that the problem may never return (out of warranty) in the future.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Very good question.
I'm assuming water ingressed into the electronics via wicking through the wiring.
I'll ask my service guy for a detailed explanation.
And then ask him to cover the connections in epoxy or something to prevent a repeat.
I've seen on other forums that this seems to be somewhat common - - probably bad design.
No radar sensor - no cruise control. Cruise is something I require for a physical problem.
I drove 2,000 kilometers using my left leg on the accelerator. - I'm not wanting to repeat that.
F.W.I.W. my service advisor told me to let the warranty run through, then the extended warranty. After that change up - an electronics issue could total the car after 10 years.
My W212 wagon had a 10 year warranty period - which has just run out.

I found an entry into TSB's for this problem he posted up on Benzorg.
TSB LI54.70-P-066764 - deals with this very issue.
I've printed it out and am heading off to my local dealership to see if they are aware of the TSB.
Being Australia - We don't get all the recalls and fixes which occur in ROW - scandalous.
