Massaging seats

Hi guys , I'm looking for input on the value of the massaging seat option . Are they worth having or just a short lived novelty ? In Canada they're part of a $1900 "comfort pack " which includes the fragrance system . Any opinions good or bad would be appreciated ,thanks in advance .

Probably worth the money and also the fragrance system. It would probably also increase the value on trade in so you'd get some of the $1900 back when the time came.

E450 Coupe
It's subjective, of course, but I ordered it with my E 450 Coupe, which I've had for less than a month. In hindsight, I probably wouldn't have gotten it. I don't find it particularly relaxing or enjoyable. Having said that, I've yet to take the car on a long road trip and I've heard others say that's where the massaging seats are worth the money. And it may be that I'm jaded as I have a massage chair at home which is far more powerful and relaxing than the seats in the car that pale in comparison.

Mine 220d has it and for long trips is fantastic. I love it, because there are few types of massages + warming of the seat. But yeah, i don't use them in my regular city driving.
Of course they can't compare to prof. chairs, but you can't put this chairs on your car and drive on it for 400+ km, right?

I don't find them a novelty. I often get lower back pain and find it helps along with the heated seat.

Had them in two prior cars and didn't get them on the two most recent cars. Do not miss them whatsoever. The massage is pretty weak, though I will give partial credit for the side bolster activation on turns. Pretty neat that, but only worth 250 USD.

The massage function isn't "strong" but it certainly feels nice on long drives or when your back is sore. I use it when needed and my wife finds it one on her favorite features of the car. My vote is yes it's worth it. I also have the fragrance option, I don't use that as I don't care for it.

i had them in my 2017 E300 and loved it... there are many options to suit every need (on both the driver and passenger seats)
however when i placed my order for a 2021 E350, i was told that Drive-Dynamic multicontour front seats (part of the Comfort package) is not available because of supply issues . so i am getting my new E350 without them
i am in canada too and i am surprised they are part of the $1900 Comfort Cackage .. the new comfort package (DZ1) only includes P21 - Air Balance Package and 401 - Climate Comfort Front Seats.

Thanks for input iammrsam , and others . I should have said I'm ready to order a E450 cabriolet , which has a different packaging arrangement to the sedan . It sounds like this is a worthwhile feature to order if I can and I guess the dealer will update me on the availability situation ..

We have them in prior MB's including our present 2019 CLS 450. Both my wife and I enjoy them and use them regularly. We just placed an order for a 2022 E450 Cabriolet and I ordered them as well. Good luck. It's like every option you may select, if you think you will use it, then gauge the cost and its value to you. If you can, see if you can drive one with the seats and judge for yourself. good luck.

For those who don't think the massage is strong enough, have you tried the stronger or whatever it is called option? It's a selection on the massage screen.

Absolutely worth it. I even created a shortcut for my massage so I have only two button presses to start it.

Many years ago a friend who had a MB E advised me that if I ever bought one to get the message seats. Well I bought one on order and didn't get the seats. I learned why he had said that. My legs/ thighs would hurt on long drives. When I got the most recent MB I bought it off the lot and it had the messaging seats. If you do any long distance driving they are worth every penny of the cost. The are very adjustable, and if you mark them as a favorite they are very easy to use. They are one of the most effective of the many options MB offers. Now I will admit the atomizer/perfumer eludes me, but so does the 64 color ambient lighting system. And I wish the puddle lights did not have that ostentatious logo.

I have them and I would get them again but it’s not a deal breaker.

on a long drive I like the warm/hot massage option. It’s not a particularly strong massage but it’s helpful.

I honestly think you should test drive one and see for yourself.

I'm just about to order and was thinking it would still be a 2021 . If it's going into the next model year , are you aware of any differences in the configuration ? I'll check with dealer next week . Thanks everyone .

I've always wondered do these massage seats use air pressure or actual rollers? Are they also the same on the S class?

I just picked up a used 2017 wagon on Saturday and drove it six hours from the dealer. (Wanted to get used to the car given that I don't drive very often – might be weeks before I need to drive it for more than fifteen minutes.) The massage seats were definitely a nice option. My lower back's been sore for weeks, and it felt better AFTER the long drive. It's not a deep-tissue massage for sure and won't work out any serious issues, but it's enough stimulation to head off the usual road-trip back soreness. Main downside is that it's limited to about ten minutes, so you have to keep restarting it.

The fragrance system is a little weird. The cabin air filter works great on its own, so the fragrance is very unnecessary – just makes the car smell like cheap cologne.

The fragrance is to cover that moldy A/C smell Mercedes is known for

The massage feature is much much weaker then in my wife's Volvo S60.

I wonder if the rollers action on the mercedes backseat isn't felt as much because it has more padding under the surface to work through
