Maintenance agreements: Cautionary tale
Never heard someone interpret it in the way the OP has. Most drive around till they get the notification in the cluster… then probably drive a bit more before hitting the dealer.
Every vehicle manufacturer requires the vehicles to be serviced at Distance travelled OR Time based.
In this case, OR does not mean you have a choice. It means which ever you hit first between the two of them.
The Maintenance schedule actually states this quite clearly. I don't understand why this is hard to understand. Why would you skimp on this? It's a yearly thing.
And in this case, its prepurchased maintenance. It's even more bizarre you decided to go past the Service intervals.

I specifically asked the service advisor if we should change plugs and coils as per MB’s maintenance schedule?
He asked if I drive to the beach a lot, and said if there is signs of corrosion on the car, then yes, we should do the plugs.
Told him I don’t park at the beach at all, hate getting all the salt on the car.
The service tech looked over the car while doing the oil and filter and found neither salt, nor corrosion and concluded there was no reason to
do the spark plugs this time.
(Edit: Impressed that this dealer did not try to up-sell anything, I was bracing for “Required Service by MB”)
This dealer actually has a new thing, they record a video and sent to my phone while I waited for the car:
