Sitting on the dock in the bay...

Dealership gave us a heads up on my wifes E450 build. It had a schedule build start date of 9/27 and the notice they got was that it was sitting
on the dock waiting for a ship as of 10/15. According to MB it will be loaded by the end of the month and start its journey across the pond and at that
time we will be able to track it.
Given that cars use different docks than cargo, we're hopping to see it by xmas...time will tell.

I looked over the build out spec sheet and some interesting things showed up.
We knew going in that wide screen display was not going to happen, but a couple of things
did show up that were not ordered. I talked to the dealership and they confirmed the spec sheet per our
conversations(and provided a copy of what they submitted).
Wheel lug locks and all weather mats front and rear were added.
Instead of the 115v outlet, the wireless charger was installed.
And the $1100 heads up display was added to the build.
All of these are being charged to us as part of the build out.
That would normally be a problem, but the sales manager is honoring the 10% discount he quoted us
when we were trying to build out a 2021 version, so we eat the add on's and get the 10% off an 80k build.

Out of curiosity, without widescreens ( I’m assuming both?), what do you get? An analog driver display?

It's only a best guess(the dealer can't get any info on it), but I'm thinking it will be analog gauges with the small screen in the middle and a
separate nav/entertainment screen like I have in my 2017 GLC 300. What's really galling is the $150 credit we'll get for not having the all digital display,
I mean if that was an upgrade option, it would cost $1000 plus.
The dealership told us we didn't have to take delivery if we didn't like the car once it arrived(even though it's custom ordered options). I asked my wife
how long she wanted to wait for a new car just to get the digital dash, cause I got a feeling it will be awhile.

Is this a 21 or 22? I have a 22 ordered with a Jan 22 build date (after a MY21 cnx and at least 2 schedule slips on the 22). Currently not showing any equipment deletes.

I'm already worried I'm not getting wireless charging, augmented reality & burmeister, but if iI also lose widescreen, I'm not sure if I will accept the car
I've signed a 4 year lease, so want it to be exactly as ordered.

@Mikey53 when you say "currently not showing deletes" , where exactly do you see this info ?
My car has been half built in Germany, awaiting further parts, but nobody can tell me anything about the (missing) equipment..

Based on what the salesman sees in Netstar. He checks it every week for me and reports if/when anything changes with the build.

CaptainJack, did your build include the Hermes module? My build starts 11/2 and per my dealer, I will not know what equipment gets included or excluded until MB actually starts production. I can probably live without the wide screen, but I need to have GPS, traffic and Mercedes Me.

funny, my dealer has NO info at all and can only see WHERE the car is. even if it's "half built" he has no detailed info ...

My build sheet says 'premium package lite', and there's $100 discount. As another poster has mentioned, this probably means analog gauges. No real mention of this on the sheet, and the dealer didn't say anything. Worst case, I just get my deposit back.

Then again, having analog gauges shouldn't be an issue. It's just that you 'can't' have it, so you want it. It's nice, but not particularly important. As long as the other screen isn't gimped. If that's the case, I'm not taking delivery. I can wait this out. And I'm not leasing so I would be stuck with It, which again really isn't an issue if it's just that.

I'm not so gung-ho on the digital stuff anyway, like what they are putting in the C-series now. It looks almost like overkill. Add the ambient lights and it's a disco.

But like the other poster said, it is insulting to deduct $100. $500 might help the transition, and not offend buyers who may not be aware of what's going on, and who might feel cheated. Also, $500 would alert dealers to a major omission instead of just sneaking it in.

But lack of GPS? I'm going need to be very careful about what's actually not there before I sign off on this.

^ The Premium Package ‘Lite’ and $100 credit is only for omission of the hands free trunk/hatch opening.

I think the analog gauge thing is an Internet rumor. Cars have been delivered recently with smaller screens, but not analog gauges.

Not what the dealer said. One dealer sent me photos. This is what they are being told. No mention of a smaller screen. Wait and see, is all I can do.

I didn't get that info about the gauges on the internet, btw. I got it from a dealer when I ordered it. I then googled it and found nothing, but a search here brought me to this thread.

Well, research by contacting MB. If you have done this, and they told you it's not true, then there's a problem as two separate dealers told me this. Not the sales people, the managers and people who are in charge of ordering. The sales people had no clue. This info comes form memos MBUSA sends out constantly. And these days it must be a mess.

It caused me to reconsider ordering, but thinking about it, I realized that it's a minor thing, although annoying. A single 12" is all I need. I do want a heads-up, even though I've never used one, as it may be useful. The only problem is the non-disclosure and minimal cost deduction. And the feeling that the new C-class is getting all these screens as those are the big sellers.

I know that the recently shipped cars don't have analog gauges. It's the ones you try to order now.

On my order my dealers, actually two, confirmed the full screen which is what I have on my 2019 E450 which back then was an extra cost item.

The Premium Package "Lite" is the deletion of the trunk open and close by passing your foot under the the bumper. On my build the credit is $150 not $100. Shame as I also have this feature on my 2019 and frequently use it.

What? This makes more sense given the price difference and lack of disclosure. Something like that, wouldn't be as drastic, at least in comparison. But this misinformation has me baffled.

Just got an update from my dealer on my 2022 E450 AT. Build started on Nov. 2 and on schedule to be completed in the next 2 days. Per the updated build sheet, it has all chips (including for the Hermes module). There are no credits on the build sheet for D6Z, D8K or anything else. But my Premium Package is now Premium Package Lite and is missing the hands free tailgate opener. The build sheet charges $2300 for the Premium Package Lite, so a $100 savings from the list price on the Mercedes configurator, But the savings is not shown as a "credit' so the buyer may not realize the missing feature. Most importantly, I asked my dealer for an update on the 48v battery problem and he said the problem was software related (and not a bad batch of batteries or faulty battery terminal connections) and should be fixed. Will be interesting to see if anyone reports 48v battery problems on the 2022 builds.

UPDATE:

Premium package "Lite": Just received my purchase order for review; The "Hands Free Access" which is the swiping your foot under the bumper has been deleted. The cost is $2,300 vs. $2,400 on the build out on mbusa.com. So the credit is $100.

Personally I would be happy to pay the $100 as I like and often use this feature.
