I asked my friend where is the 63 model as I noticed it is missing from the list, he told me he needs to ask his friend that provided him with this information, hopefully they forgot to include it instead of actually missing but there is rumour circulating around that the W214 E-Class will not get a hand-built V8 63 model and the top of the range will have the M256 inline 6 instead with E-Performance stuff (if it is true, imo that might mean they don't want to put the M139 in an E-Class) I don't know how true is that though just rumours for now.

 

If no E63 it will be interesting to see the impact, if any, to M5C, RS6 and Panamera Turbo S sales.

 

It's possible that the E 63 won't be available first year. This is what happened with the C 63.

 

 

 

 

I'm more interested in the non pop-up/out handles, I am hoping that is going to be standard in North America.

I might be switching to the new 4WD toyota after 10 years and 4 Mercedes. I was good with COMAND. Don't like MBUX and touchscreen, so the 2024 is probably off my radar after I look over the interior controls.

 

I feel the same way! COMAND was fine but MBUX with the touchscreen and touch pad is a recipe for distracted driving! It is so dangerous to have to take your eyes off the road to zoom in and out navigation!

I was away for a week with a rented 2021 Infiniti XC80 with dial controller to quickly zoom, etc only to return to MBUX <sigh>.

 

Wasn't sure of your last sentence. Was the XC80 worse or better than MBUX? Thanks

 

The Infiniti with a dial controller was excellent, reminiscent of that in my late 2015 E350S4. Quick and precise.

MUBUX IMHO is a step backwards encouraging distracted driving over the simplest of tasks. While driving, many times I say "forget it". Safety on the road is my priority over "playing" with MBUX.

Mercedes used to be about touch and feel. Now also gone cruise control joystick which I loved, starting with my 1980 240D. My 2021's small buttons and swipe are not the same.

 

I'm sorry you're having all this trouble with MBUX! I can understand that it's easy to get used to things. I actually eally disliked the cruise control stalk and find the steering wheel buttons so much more intuitive, and I happen to find both the touchpad and the menu structure of MBUX easy and logical, but I can understand it's a very complex system with different ways of interaction vs previous models. By the way, I assume the Infiniti you're talking about is the QX80?

 

Yes, I stand corrected, it was the QX80.
Given its size, I found it remarkably easy to drive with excellent visibility.
