Wagon Still in Awe
Today I had to zip up to the Wash. DC area to pick something up from my daughter, left late morning so traffic wouldn't be an issue, 220 miles up and back.
Have now had the 2017 e400 wagon for 3 months and I am still awe as to the ride and how smooth the power comes on, and how quick the speed is achieved.
And I've owned some quick cars over the last 40+ years.
Went to pass a truck on the left today, stepped on it and whoosh I'm doing 104mph and it felt like nothing. This car gives me the ability to reach a whole new level of trouble. This might be the best car I've owned. will still be partial to my 72 & 73 Alfa Romeo's
I can't even imagine what an e63s would be like.

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
Yes it is pretty amazing the sporty feel of the car. I did have a 2018 E63 amg. The E450 I currently have is plenty fast enough and I find it drives better than the E63 amg I had. Very happy with the car other than the way the front end bottoms out over rough roads although thats generally to a problem here in Florida up north it is.

I purchased my 2017 E-400 Wagon in April, 2021 with 37k. CPO car that listed at $78k. Had a 2011 E350 Wagon with 212k miles that still ran like new, but really liked the new style. My only issue so far is that the door hinges are very weak and won’t hold the door open on hardly any incline. Do you have that problem? My GL550 had door hinges like vaults!

I have same issue with the doors, seems that I have to hold it open on any kind of incline or my shins get to stop the doors from closing. Half my driveway is at a 15% incline so am kind of used to it. My pet peeve is when you have navigation and media on the screen the media potion is 60% of the screen, wish Nav was the larger portion. Or maybe I haven't figured out how the get them reversed?

The original 2017 door hinges were indeed poorly designed. MB came out with new door hinges that had a bit more holding power.
My dealer replaced all 4 door hinges for me. It required painting so took a few days.

Owning the E class wagon rather than a shoe box on wheels SUV demonstrates you are a smart person. The masses swarm to the lumbering tuck like SUVs but the enlightened drive the exceptional driving wagon.

Update on door hinges. I took my 2017 E-400 Wagon to the dealer a month ago, once again complaining about the hinges. It is very fortunate that I had, on record, brought this up twice before. My advisor, a great guy, at first said that my CPO warranty should cover this, but said the CPO wouldn’t cover this because a CPO only takes care of mechanical issues. I reminded him that I’d mentioned this twice while the vehicle was under the factory warranty and it is in my service notes. Long story short, MB agreed to replace the hinges!
Much better now and my wife doesn’t skin her shins when opening the car on an uphill grade!!

Is there an official test to demonstrate the door hinge issue? I'm in for a service soon.
I noticed this issue even in my driveway which is flat - when I open the door past the expected mid-point, it generally swings all the way back, and on San Francisco hills - forget it.
To solve it I use my foot to push it open as I swing my legs out. Love the car, but this is tricky!

Thanks G Man Sorry, I wasn't clear - I have the bulletin, but I wondered if there was a definitive test that would indicate operation was outside expected behavior.
I have thought it was very different to all my other MBs - I will ask my service advisor at the end of the month, and show his the bulletin.

I have not heard of any official MB test, but if you are on flat ground and swing the door half way and it closes back 0n you, you have a case in my opinion. There has been an upgraded door hinge from MB since the early 2017 w213 .
