Help! 2018 E Class Air Filter

I have read the threads, looked on youtube and cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the passenger's panel to come forward so that I can replace the cabin filter. I can get it to come down but cannot get it to come forward so that I can replace the filter. The problem is I twisted and turned the old filter out and now have a car w/o a cabin filter. I pulled, push, and everything else and cannot figure for out how to get it pull forward. I can get both side to lower but no luck pulling it forward. Any help is appreciated!

Thanks I but can't even get it to the point where the wires are an issue. The panel drops. It is like something is still holding it towards the outside wall of the passenger foot well. I have to be missing something obvious. I guess I got lulled into a false since of security when it only took 5 minutes to change the engine air filter!

Have you tried bending/wiggling panel as instructed in video.

Yes siree. I have tried everything. Typically when I get caught up in a project I walk away and then come back. This one I can't figure out for the life of me. I am bending/willing to the point I am afraid I will break something.

I feel you. I also watched on Youtube and realized that this "simple", it really should be, project required working on your back. Just felt it was too difficult to get into that position at 78 years of age.

Maybe you can post a picture of the stage you are stuck at and maybe someone who has changed the cabin filter can help you out.

Thanks @ Konigstiger for posting

There is a clip on the outside of the car side that holds the panel in place (part number 5 in the "bottom panelling pdf". It is 99% certain it will break. MB rerplaced the filter on my wifes car during the last service and i found the clip on the floor wheen hoovering out the car a few days later. Mine was already broken - if you do break it then don't worry as the panel will not move when held in place with all of the other screws

After all the push and pulling I finally gave up this morning and was just going to reinstall the footwell panel. As I did it fell to the floor. Apparently whatever I was pulling on just needed to be pushed a little. Air filter is now in. Thanks, everyone for your replies.

Congratulations! When I tried this back in 2020, I finally gave up and took the car to my independent service guy who had done it before and charged me for about 20 minutes of labor. When it was time to change the cabin filter again last year, I didn't even try. I just took the car to him. The cabin air filter that's located in the engine compartment I do myself in about 10 minutes. I changed the cabin air filter on my Porsche 911 (which is located next to the battery up front) last weekend and it took me about 8 minutes.
