Humming sound coming fom dashboard when getting in car
Humming sound coming from dashboard when getting in car (before starting)
It's coming from inside the dashboard (where the buttons are)
sounds it bit like the ventilator, though that's not it.
don't know if it always did this, and that it's just more noticeable now ...?
it is rather cold at the moment with temps around freezing, though can't imagine how this would be a factor?

can anyone confirm that such a hum indeed is present when getting in the car ( diesel hybrid)
I'm starting to believe the hum was always there, just that it's louder now for some reason ?

When we get in the S213 wagon there is a noise, rather like a subdued humming sound from the cockpit area. My MB tech tells me that it is the pre-tensioners for the seat belts. Could be a deflection, but for me it makes sense, if not it may be the self-leveling suspension in our wagon. Good luck!

For a while the "problem" stopped, but the humming is back every now and then

the clip is from after a 45min trip, so definitely warm.
it's pretty loud too , you can hear it even with radio on at normal level

It sounds like a fan bearing that may be going bad. They are likely a sealed unit so if it's the cause, the fan likely needs to be replaced. In any case, some disassembly is likely required to diagnosis and repair. Maybe a borescope with a mic or a stethoscope can be used to pinpoint the location of the sound.

'19 E300 w/ activated Multibeam
sounds like the headunit fan. I remember taking apart the center console and accessing it before, they can get quite hot. I've never actually heard the fan on mine when the console is installed in place.
