2019 e450 wagon start/stop set to last mode w/ Launch
Success! Seems like everybody gets slightly different menus, different wording, etc. but I was able to set my Start/Stop to act in a "last mode selected" manner.
with the V50.36 update for Mercedes. I found the options in the variant coding for PTCU under "3S Load Mode". There are a couple different options that give you normal behavior as MB gave us, 4 hour memory of selection, and the winner "Unlimited Load Mode 3S".
Once this mode coding is written, the button on the center console still toggles Start/Stop on and off, but it retains settings trip to trip, day to day. It doesn't matter if you change from Comfort to Eco, etc.

I would just like to reply that this also worked precisely as described for my 2019 E300 sedan W213 08 .... and as you say, there were several other red herring "disable start stop" under "special function" and under engine control module that did not work... as well as the totally disabled start stop under PTCU... thank you very much for finding this much more satisfying setting....

I ordered the Launch CReader yesterday and it arrived this morning and I did the Unlimited Load Mode 3S update. I hate the AutoStop function. Now I need to do a search to find what/how to program the vehicle to remember Sport mode.

after "system select", I opened each option and tried variant and implicant until I found 024 Load Mode 35. I can't remember which one it was. It wasn't type of drive
why does everyone hate on the start stop ? ecc tuned mine out when I got the tune and I told them to put it back in lol. I love my start stop. Its conveniently located at my thumb so its become second nature for me to turn it on and off as necessary while I commute (stop sign, short lights etc).
It contributed to a fairly uncomfortable delay in response when I'vr got a small gap between cars at a stop sign or right turn on red. Can be dangerous if your not planning on it taking an extra 300ms or so. I also don't want oil circulation to stop while my turbos are boiling hot and still spinning.

Agreed. It’s my personal preference too:
- avoids excessive actuations and wear of the starter-alternator and belt (mine doesn’t have the isg)
- avoids turbocharger damage / thermal shock if the boiling hot turbocharger is suddenly deprived of oil flow which is there to act as the coolant
- $1 fuel saving a day is just not worth the cost of repairs to the mechanical components of my pride and joy. I want my car to last and function as long as possible.
