Mercedes knows about this. It will probably take up to three months for a fix. My dealer was not aware of the problem (supposedly) but I wanted to be on record that I have been experiencing the issue. We shall see. Not a good look for sure.

Because it is a safety issue you should report it to your state regulator as well as the NHTSA. There is a link at www.NHTSA.gov to report a safety issue.

Thanks, everyone. Yes, my dealer in NJ knows nothing. Will reach out as it is a safety issue if happens at night. I even lose what the speed signs are stating.

That seems to be the default position of all dealerships for these types of problems. It is a new car that has only been out less than a year so it's possible that some dealers have not heard of this but there have been enough reports of it here to reasonably assume that some dealers have heard of this. At least yours does now since they heard it from you.

MBUX reboot loop

Hello, for those asking if this reboot issue happens to the cars without the superscreen, yes it does. I came across this video, please jump to minute 20:30.

I just had my first reboot at 1,000 miles mileage! it continued to restart forever until I made the magical fix : turn off the car, get out, lock it for few minutes, come back in, as if nothing has happened! Software version is E056.9-131.

Has anyone had luck updating to a newer software and getting rid of this reboot issue?

Great find, to be fair, the hyperscreen and the regular both use the same software but the layout is somewhat different so it is natural it has the same type of problems between ths two.

Agreed, I also didn’t believe the hyperscreen vs regular screen would make a difference when I was going over this thread few days ago, but when it happened to me in my hyperscreen yesterday and searched all over about it and found this video, I thought I should share it for those who were asking.

have you had it happening? Will it happen so frequent?

I personally don't have a W214 but my friend does, not sure what version he is running but don't have the reboot issue, that said he has the a/c set pretty low, like a fridge (exaggerating but probably not far off in a sense), perhaps heat might had caused the system to overheat and crash?

Dealership updated my maps to V. 8 though Mercedes states it has V. 9, but dealer could only get V. 8 and downloaded for me a few days ago. While they were in my system, they added some data given them from Mercedes to correct the rebooting of my screens with no warning. Screens reboot after 60 seconds or less with no settings lost. Happened once every two weeks or so. Now we will see if it fixed an issue many are having in this forum. I did sign a Consent Form for Mercedes to put in a password to monitor by auto if it happens again for a fix. Something causes the software to reboot, maybe an issue with the firmware.

Let sleeping dogs lie

Mercedes offered an update but I declined. Shut it off resets the system. Will wait till they are certain they have the fix.

I see, hopefully that update solves the issue indeed.

Could be overheating hardware

My W214 is two months old, 3,500km. It has the first self-reseting of the screen today.

It happened at a stop light, with engine auto-stopped so aircon compressor was off too. So it was a bit warm. The outside temp was 26 deg cel.

The system suddenly rebooted it self but fortunately, the system came back to life fully within 30 seconds.

It reminds me of PC’s overheating. The top symptoms were self rebooting.

I have not had an issue that I know of, but I always by-pass the start-stop feature so my engine runs all the time. Incidentally there is a campaign on the MBUX for 2 updates, one involved possibility of a fire with the electric drive battery, the other was something (also with MBUX) which required 5+ hours of software update. Mine ended up having to leave the car for 3 days. So far everything works like it's supposed to........

That's great. Congratulations for the update. Which software version do you currently show?

Hi RoadrunnerHerm,

You indicated in this message that you had a software update that didn't fix the reboot issue. Can you tell us which software version are you on now?

Let's help each to get to know which (and if) software version exactly will fix the reboot issue. Alan (Icebreaker) has just also received a software update and he will tell us of the version.

I will start with myself : Software version E056.9-131 and I DID get one reboot couple of days ago.

MBUX version

Software version is E265.1-5545.
Along with that they also did a "Battery Module Campaign/perform update to Battery Module Control Unit per VMI Instructions".

My 2026 E450 came with and still has E262.3-4975. The 2024 E350 that I had for 4 months came with E056.9-113 and did an OTA update on Aug 15 to E263.0-5078 which is also known as MBUX 3.2.

I have had zero issues with any of these versions other than what I documented in this thread after the 2024 E350 updated. I put over 6500 miles on the 2024 and have 1100 miles on the 2025.

I am,picking up my 25 E450 today. I assume it will have all these updates done at the VPC or dealer?

If not done I would imagine at the dealer. It's a 5+ hour download that could potentially take the whole day like mine did....

Any idea what the “battery module” update was supposed to fix?

The only reason I ask is that my car suffered from the screen lockup and got updated software 2 weeks ago which appears to have fixed that problem.. However my car now has a problem where the 12v battery is being discharged and the car is back at the dealer.. again.
