I'm not sure what you are asking then. Your first message seemed to be asking if it was safe to install the 3.2.1 update, but you have a newer version installed by the dealership so you would not need to install the update.

On your projections not working. Did you verify you have the options discussed in this thread? I would think you do since I doubt the dealership would install an update in an attempt to enable them if your car was not equipped. I believe there are others who have the required equipment, but sill cannot enable them. Maybe they can chime in.

Basically, leave the engine running with it in neutral and the wheels chocked. I wonder if you could just leave the ACC on with the engine off and hooked up to a battery maintainer.

As of today, April 10, 2025, Tier 2 told me that the firmware/software for the Welcome/Farewell and street projections are not available with any of the recent updates. Was promised during the first quarter of 2025, but they state still in beta form. My dealership also checked and no updates for us with the E Class especially 2024 and early 2025 built. Will keep checking. Anyone hears otherwise, please let us know here, your Mercedes family.

So being late to this thread, when you purchase an e-Class today with the digital light package, what exactly are you getting the day you drive off the lot? Any special effects or cool animations? Or are you just getting upgraded headlights with the promise of something more down the road (with the goalposts continuing to be moved)?

You should get the opening and closing animations which there are two to choose from. Digital rain and dancing stars. Then, when driving at night you get arrows displayed on the road ahead if it corrects you to stay in the lines and lane change illumination for auto lane changes. It's pretty underwhelming IMO.

Eventually, on day, when the stars align we may get actual intelligence with the beams shaping around cars and reducing glare off signs and rain.

Good to know, thanks! Glad I plan on keeping mine for a long time. They should get it perfected by year 5 and I can start enjoying the ROI.

I look at the digital lights as purely upgraded lights, especially since the non-upgraded lights are particularly awful, being LED reflectors that you typically find in a Honda Passport or Pilot. If animations arrive later on, I call that as a plus.

To get the digital rain and star pattern, I'm assuming you have to purchase the projections package from the MB store?

And you have to have the hardware when auto purchased as I do. I am still waiting for the firmware update in beta production so can be downloaded and then purchase software for the Welcome and Farewell use of the digital lights. AS of two week ago, the firmware not available yet.

I wouldn't fret too much about not having it. It's quite underwhelming. You only see the welcome/farewell images when you park at night with nothing in front of you for at least 40 feet. If the parking lot has a lot of bright lights, its washed out. I've had it for several months and have only seen it a handful of times outside of me intentionally parking in a place to see it on demand. In addition, the little light images it shows while driving are similarly limited and pretty useless. When/if we finally get the Intelligent Light System (ILS+) activated in the US I'm hopefull it will be worth it then. For now, its a useless gimmick that is seen rarely.

I received feedback from Mercedes-Benz regarding the projection function. The "Fresh Up" version of the head unit to version 3 is missing. Does anyone know this version and how to install it?

The hardware and software updates to operate fully the Projection Lights for the 2024 and some of the 2025 autos still not ready. Has been almost a year as most of us wait who purchased the full Digital Light Package. I called about three weeks ago, and they stated they will let us know when update is ready and will be over the air or at your dealer. Will be part of the Digital Extras Package renewable each anniversary year. Sad that it has been almost a year now. It affects the Welcome and Farewell lights as well as warnings on the roads at night on various street issues which is not implemented yet in the United States but approved about two years ago. Hope that helps.

I have an appointment with Mercedes-Benz on June 16, 2025. There are cars that can be purchased in the Mercedes store without te PAX code. In our case, it´s either the heat unit control or the FreshUp 3.0 update needs to be reinstalled. I want to habe a result by this appointment. I´ll report back.

Best regards.

Waiting to see what your results are. I get different answers depending on who speak with at Mercedes Support. The latest, which is going on one yea, is the software for the Welcome/Farewell Digital Lights are still in beta form.. Be good to know what your dealer does so I can do the same thing. Good luck.

Hello everyone,
I would like to share an update. Yesterday, I picked up my car. The new version of "FreshUp" was installed, but I don't know which one.
Now, I received a message in the MBUX system that the projection function has been deactivated and is not available, see the pictures, its in german.
I'm a step further.
Now, it needs to be clarified how I can activate the option, as I don't see or can purchase it in the Mercedes Store.
Perhaps some adjustments are necessary. I have already sent an email to Mercedes.
I will get back to you as soon as I know more.

Best regards

I had the similar issue once and it happened right after an OTA update, the system needs to be restarted automatically and after a while the function got back.

Hello,
So, should the MBUX system be restarted? Can I do that myself? I have already reset everything.
Additionally, I noticed that my Mercedes app is not working properly. When I activate pre-conditioning, the app still shows "Off" even though it is actually activated.

Best regards

Best you can do is to visit the dealer in this case. MBUX gets restarted after the reset and as far as I know that's the only way.

Hello,
I have diagnosis my car's system. Under the MBUX system, I found an error code, and the error is "B19C100 - System activation failed." Unfortunately, this error cannot be cleared.
Then I discovered the following under "Live Data," see the picture.

"Digital light: Projection of symbols" is available but not activated. I suspect that something needs to be done at this point.
Today, I will visit the Mercedes workshop and ask about it.
I will get back to you

Hello,
i still owe you some feedback on the status of the "projection function". I had an appointment at the Mercedes workshop yesterday. I brought up the problem with the projection function again and asked for an update to the MBUX system. As of today, i received a message via the Mercedes app stating that i can purchase or use the function. For those who want to activate this function, the new software version E333.8 would need to be installed.
So, after more than 6 months and a lot of correspondence with Mercedes, my case has been successfully closed

Best regards

Bahadir
