Mercedes seems to not have several key related options other manufacturers take for granted:
Walk away locking / Walk-up unlocking
Profile saved to key
Remote Start from keyfob

Only the EQE for some reason or maybe also some EQS or maybe not in the mbusa market https://mbworld.org/forums/gls-class...iles-keys.html

Yes, this is such a simple and expected feature, and it is disappointing that it is not supported. In my simple case, it all works because I am the only driver and so it defaults to the one named profile. It doesn't matter which of the two fobs I use, it defaults to the one profile (but gives an option to change to a guest profile or create a new profile). I think Mercedes imagines that everyone wants to use their phone to control their car and those of us luddites that resist this are a minority.

On a related note, it has this annoying habit of saying something like "Welcome back Chuck, good to see you again". First, I don't think it is seeing me, but maybe the driver camera does more than I think... they don't do facial recognition. And secondly, it does this even when I have passengers in the car and so it often interrupts a conversation. If anyone knows a way to turn this "greeting" off, please share it with me. I find it annoying... but there is the benefit that my wife gets jealous because of this "woman" flirting with me!

Linking the smartkey to your profile is possible now after the latest MBUX update (version E333.8-58). After you get your car updated, it will guide you through the setup process or you can access it in profile settings.
Also, there is a new greeting tone that plays now once you shut the door instead of the voice assistant speaking to you.

Well, that's a welcome change. Actually two welcome changes. The fact that the added support to link a key fob to a profile and that a software update actually has some noticeable changes and new features. Looking forward to this update when it becomes available for my car.

Awesome! Glad it is no longer EQE exclusive.

For the new greeting tone... What does it sound like? As well as, can you choose the old announcement as you want or that is simply replaced?

For me the new greeting tone plays right after you shut the door and then the old announcement still plays for me once I start the car. However, it seems like after the update, the announcement doesn't come on as often anymore. The new greeting tone is subtle but its a nice touch imo.

Thanks for the clip, that is subtle indeed but I really like it, I look forward to it.
