Trading my EQE 500 SUV for a Grecale Folgore

It just arrived at the dealership. It charges slowly and has a laggy infotainment system but dang she's good looking.

We'll see 9 AM tomorrow morning! They had $10K off MSRP on the black one that was already in inventory and am hoping to get same on this one. So it's not a done deal yet but seeing how all the BMW iX M60s I was looking at are still for sale, I think there's a good chance it's gonna happen. I'm probably the only person in Houston who wants an electric Maserati right now with the way EVs depreciate. LOL

Stands out for sure but as long as you like it no buyer's remorse and happy with the purchase, it will be worth it.

I would have preferred a Lotus Eletre but with the China tariffs that's now $100K more expensive. I don't like it that much more. I think this will keep me happy for the next couple years.

Bianco Astro is a lovely off-white color, kind of silvery blue. The infotainment system is pretty nice too. It shows info like battery temp that I can't get out of my Mercedes. Its definitely bigger than a Macan. They had one right next to a Levante and it really wasn't much smaller. I'd almost call it mid-sized instead of compact. Fit me like a glove anyway. Unfortunately when I got there the white one was dead and hooked up to a battery tender. I test drove the black one they had instead. Despite the numbers it didn't "feel" as quick as my 500. I think they limit the torque when you punch it so you don't get whiplash like with an iX M60. Overall though I liked it and will probably go through with the trade early next week after they finish inspecting and prepping it.

Wait... it is slower than the 500 even? Is it smaller though?

It has more horsepower but slightly less torque. When I punch my EQE it feels like all 633 lb-ft gets applied immediately. The Maserati may be faster 0-60 but it just doesn't feel as "zippy", for lack of a better word. The iX M60 may be too zippy. I want to be able to make quick maneuvers in traffic but don't want whiplash. Anyways, they're almost identical in size.

Another cool thing about the Maserati is it has a round clock on top of the dash like a Macan but it's digital and can be changed into a compass. I was thinking about ordering a 2025 Macan EV with the off-road package just for that since the 2024s only come with analog clocks. I've got my navigation system set to north always up just for that reason. With a compass I won't have to do that.

Hmm.... Are you also getting the email address for the Italian software tech? Somehow even though the car is very pretty, I don't think that it has the prooven depth of experience as MB. I also find the price point interesting compared to the usual Maserati vehicles. I hope it works out for your choice. The color is very nice.

The dealer is only 30 minutes away and they provide loaners. That was one of the first questions I asked. LOL

I'm having second thoughts. I took some pics while I was in the shop and to me looks like the battery was connected and charging, yet the car was still completely dead. The white one might be a lemon. Maybe I'll buy the black one. The red leather seats weren't as "burn your retinas" bright as they looked in the pics online. I'm just disappointed they didn't order it with the cool 3D copper carbon fiber. I really dislike a lot of shiny black plastic on the inside and it boggles my mind that they paid extra for it when the carbon fiber was free. Oh well...

Uh, this is an EV, correct? An amazing collection of hoses I suppose for the A/C and the heat pump? Looks like the 12V battery is under charge. Any outlook on when the car will be saleable? Sorry for your situation.

Yeah, an EV with no frunk. At least I'm allowed to open the hood to put washer fluid in. BMW and Mercedes went to a lot of trouble to make that difficult.

Sales manager said his tech wasn't going to be in until Monday but I'm now thinking he meant a tech in Italy because they can't figure out what's wrong with it. A quick Google search on "Grecale dead battery" leads me to believe this problem isn't new. But there are just as many posts here about EQE/EQSes with dead batteries so maybe I'm overreacting. I'd hate to trade the minor issues I have with my 500 (creaks, squeaks and rattles) for major issues with a new Maserati.

I might drive down there again tomorrow to take another look at the black one with red leather seats. That's really not the color combo I wanted though.

I must be fortunate that my AMG EQEX4 has had NO squeaks, rattles, or groans since ownership in 12/23 for over 6000 miles. Perhaps you might reconsider getting one of these beasts. I've enjoyed all of my miles so far. The only service that I've needed was to top off the coolant reservoirs when it got cold.

For MB as you know you need to put washer fluid on the side doors where the side EQS badge is, not ideal when you want to check the level of the fluid can only just pour more in.

@HBerman Mine has gotten considerably quieter now that the weather has gotten colder. In the hot summer though the cheap plastic makes such loud noises expanding/contracting that a couple times I even thought my windshield had just cracked.
@W205C43PFL Right, and I bet that cost a million bucks to engineer. But giving me a NACS port on a 2025 would just cost too much money. On a BMW iX you have to pour it in from the hood badge. Ridiculous!

I could not see how much washer fluid was in the tank for my E63S wagon! This is not new for MB.

Interesting, I can see the approximate amount and if it is close to full when I shine a light in with my C Class.

I just wait for the low level light to come on. The reservoir is not empty and there's plenty of time to do a refill.
