Parts Peeling Off Car's Underside
Approaching the passenger side of the car, I noticed yellow tape underneath the car. Went down on my knees to take a look. Here is what I saw:
The piece of yellow tape appears to be what should hold the plastic part to the car's underbody. I took another look when I got home and noticed the same thing is happening on the driver's side.
This part is farther back (under the left passenger door). I have made an appointment with a local dealer to have it looked at and/or fixed.
Has anybody seen anything like this before?

Thanks for replying so quickly.
Does that mean I should just take them off? It sure looks like these guys are ready to come off!
If you don't mind, where did you get that info?

UPDATE: I was getting antsy about it ... so I took them off!!! They are indeed temporary. Here's what they look like.
They were protective covers for slotted sections that run along the outer edge of the underbody panels.

@EATON Thanks for providing the clue as to what they are … The two plastic strips covered a series of bolts on either side of the panel. I guess those bolts are quite important that they needed to be protected during transport.

This is the general area where the battery pack is fastened to the frame structure (chassis) of the vehicle. Photos of the bolts behind the protective covers would be helpful and interesting to see.

These are the best I could do (Car is not on a lift). Had to lie on my back and find the bolt by touch. I found/felt 5 of these guys:
At both ends of the row of 5 bolts, there is "hole" (see pic)
Looks like you could stick a Torx head in there ... but I really have no idea.

Agree, the hole looks like a jack/lift point. The other screw doesn't look heavy enough to be a battery-to-chassis bolt, possibly simply holding the corrugated protective underbody shield in place.

I have the same issue and it freaked me out yesterday. I first heard a strange noise while driving, like something was stuck underneath the car and was dragging the ground. it became more noticeable when driving slow. Then my neighbor noticed I have something dragging underneath my car so I pulled a strip-like part off it came out bent. Then I noticed the yellow duck tape sticking out so I reached under and peeled it off.
to the original post: did you get it fixed? Mine came off on the passenger side.
, the driver side seems intact so I am taking the car in tomorrow. My car is brand new - 2 months with 2k miles.

It looks like a quick fix for flawed design.
Wonder if the 2024 model has the same covers or something different.
edit: I didn't read Eaton's post correctly. I agree those are for transport, most likely the VPC forgot to remove them.

That's one of my beefs about the EQ's. There are SO MANY features, configurable in SO MANY ways that I find myself having difficulty remembering all the things the car can do, let alone how to use the feature I may remember ;-)

Replying to nikichen: - nothing to fix; they’re non-functional after delivery… I just removed both strips and tossed them.
