So I stopped by EcoHitch’s office today to ask about the EQS SUV 450 hitch. My car has the 3 row option as well. Their office is in Kent and is about 20 minutes from Seattle DT.
Originally I was going to just ask about having a custom hitch made but they turned around to ask if I am okay with their engineers using my car for R&D. In return, I get the hitch and installations for free.
Since Mercedes did not post the tow rating for the 450 (only the 580) I told them it’s fine as I will only be looking at using it for bike racks.
I will keep everyone posted about the results. The plan is to send my car in around middle of July for a week while they design and install the hitch. Hopefully if all goes well, others can then order their own EcoHitch as well for their EQS SUVs!

Overall, very happy with the hitch. They did have to make a small cut to the bottom of the rear bumper plastic but it’s barely noticeable. Also, the rear gate barely clears the Kuat bike rack.

Looking good. I have the two row and was told by my MB dealer there’s still no solution. Does anyone know of availability of an after market hitch that works for the two row? I called an after market hitch dealer recommended to me and they said no go. Thanks.
Appreciate you sharing this with us. Not sure if you’re leasing or financing the car, but did you happen to know if this small cut on the bumper would have any impact when the time comes for lease return? Would that be considered an excessive damage that will need to be paid for at the time?
I tried to get an answer from both the dealership and MB financials, and both weren’t any certain.

Thanks for your post and pics. I have the same concerns as wamermbz since my EQS is also leased. Any chance you can shoot a picture of it with the receiver removed?
@electricthomas, would you be willing to share your installation documents? I have an EQE500 SUV and am looking to add a hitch so I can haul my bikes with it. I reached out to EcoHitch to see if the kit for the EQS would fit the EQE since they are based on the same platform but have not received a reply. I do see a European site that has a tow kit that they use the same kit for the EQS and the EQE, so it seems possible. Honestly, I'm half-tempted to order an EQS kit and try it. Thanks in advance!

Same question. It will be difficult to get a firm answer from MBFS I bet. I just asked my sales rep and will report back with what he says.
Mercedes says this may void the warranty and definitely will violate the terms of the lease. So I would suggest not installing a hitch if the vehicle is leased.
