Is Chargepoint free ?
I charged my EQS on a few occassions at Electrify America and I did not get charged but my card was charged when i went to Chargepoint ? I thought both EA and Chargepoint were free for EQS users for the first two years. I was going to ask the dealer but wanted to confirm my assumption was not wrong first.

So, spoke to a ChargePoint agent and he confirmed it is not free. He did offer me a refund though since i did it by mistake. I thought that was a nice gesture on his part.

I agree that was a nice gesture. How much was the charge for?

I’ve never been charges at ChargePoint. I dealer gave me a ChargePoint credit which I put in my Apple Wallet and swipe to unlock the charger. It is not connected to my account.

I would register and make sure it is connected in case of an emergency. Electrify America is not always available at all locations and then you run into issues with defective chargers a lot. I would highly recommend registering with both Chargepoint and Evgo. The dealer can hook up your your car to chargepoint if you encounter any issues.

Chargepoint is complicated because there are chargers owned by Chargepoint, which are free with the Mercedes card. You have to associate it to your account though. I haven't really seen those around me though.
Most chargepoint stations around me are owned by private parties (malls, county transit, HOAs so on). In those cases the price is set by them and the Mercedes 2 year deal doesn't work there.

yeah, that is what the agent shared with me when I called support. Either way it is good to know we have three options Electrify America, Chargepoint and EvGo. As far as EvGo is concerned, would recommend that you register for Autocharge in the app so you can just do plug and play. My plan is to use Electrify America for the most part since it is free but then it is always not possible.

Been using the EvGo autocharge and pay the $12.99/mo to get the discounted rate. I have the need to use EvGo at least 3 or 4 times per month so the reduced rate makes it worth it. Use Electrify America as much as possible. Most of the ChargePoint locations are level 2 which is kind of useless unless you have alot of time.

The ChargePoint chargers in front of Target are owned by Target. If you shop early they'll give you two hours free at 6 kW. I even got an email while charging informing me that the price would change to $2/hr at 5:05 PM. It's only about five miles away so I'm pretty sure my ride to the store today was completely free, which is my favorite price.

I've never even seen a ChargePoint level 3 charger. They're almost all level 2 chargers. So I believe you're wrong about the original post and most everything else too.

I wonder if Mercedes-Benz will switch solely to NACS charging ports or a combination of CCS and NACS charging ports? If they are planning to go strictly to NACS ports, hopefully they make a deal with Tesla to cover charging for free for the first two years of ownership as they are doing now with Electrify America.

The car will only have the NACS port but it won't matter in practice since there are already adapters from CCS fast charger to NACS port so you will be able to charge in any of the CCS or NACS stations. There will also be adaptors for other direction so regardless of if you have the current model with CCS or next years model with NACS, you will be able to charge in EA or Tesla stations as long as you have the small adaptor in your trunk.

I understand what you are saying, and you are correct that many do refer to DCFC as Level 3 but it's not the proper term for DC Fast Charging. And the world will keep spinning if you'd rather call it Level 3. No point in debating it.

Perhaps or they may just continue the partnership with EA where NACS cars can use an adapter. Also, EA will be deploying NACS ports to their installs starting next year. I’d prefer it become Tesla as reliability and locations are much better.

ChargePoint handles payment services for Mercedes though. I'm not sure plug and charge at EA will work without them. What I am sure of is right now they only have enough cash for about another year. They could be going out of business:
