Looks like a couple of EQS 53 videos are out. Embargo lifted? I thought it gets lifted later, like the SL (in mid January?)

Someone else in this thread mentioned the EQS embargo is earlier, although I didn't realize it was this early.

My dealership received its first EQS450+ in a dark gray. The car had not been prepped yet, and was locked. It featured the hyperscreen, but was missing many features and had several credits. I was most disappointed by the lack of the 10* rear steering.

Rear axle steering is standard on the EQS in Europe (5 degree), is it not in the US? I assume the 10 degree option exists only for smaller wheels, at least so on the W223. On the EQS 10 degree steering is a software option, the lack of it cannot be caused by any chip shortage or similar.

EDIT: as below, also found it from the US brochure, the 10 degree rear axle steering is standard in the US. In Europe it is the 5 degree option that is standard, 10 degree an option. On the EQS it does not seem to be dependent on the wheels as it is on the W223.

The ones I’ve seen have had it all standard in the US.

Its a standard feature, how did you know that the car was missing it? Was there a credit? I haven’t heard of MB removing RWS from cars, especially when this car has a Hyperscreen.

There was a credit for it. I wish I had taken a photo of the Monroney label, as there were other credits.

Too many clues it’s a demo.

Hyperscreen is not shown as a 450
option; 10 degree rear steering was announced as and is shown as standard equipment.

Watched and read all the reviews on the EQS53, lots of positive press, looks like MB was able to differentiate the 53 version of the EQS more so than the 450/580 through handling and sound. Very excited to see this transition into the EQE.

10deg steering is a feature that can be activated by software as an over-the-air update, all EQS should have the mechanical ability to offer rear-wheel-steering.

Not exactly news or rumors but didn't know where else to post this. My salesman sent me this, they just got an EQS 450+ with the "Backlit Laser-cut Star Pattern" and it looks super cool, especially at night since it illuminates with the chosen ambient light color. Also MBUX 2.0 cars right now have "graphical goodies" which show different holiday imagery across the infotainment.

I just checked the Mercedes Me app and it looks like it too have some sort of holiday background/theme as well, a nice touch by MBAG.

EQS 450+ Range Test by Top Gear

For those who don't want to watch, the reviewer tested the car's range without limiting any of the features of the vehicle (used massage functions, infotainment, lighting, HVAC, etc.). The car was highway driven as well in heavy traffic, and is a great way to replicate how a normal person would drive their car, rather than trying to purposefully hypermill it. Overall, the EQS 450+ in these conditions drove 370 miles with 8 miles remaining at 2% before stopping to charge.

Looked to me like a clever guy on the test drive but my blood pressure peaks when he talks about increased mileage from recuperation braking while driving on a traffic jam. The same repeats on car magazines etc. No wonder how ordinary drivers get confused. Surely braking never increases mileage, not even on an EV with powerful energy recuperation capabilities. Recuperation allows most of the energy to be recovered but only up to the efficiency figures of battery charging (efficiency of the whole system saving and reusing the energy). Obviously better to avoid the need for recuperation if possible. Recuperation makes it almost as efficient but not exactly, definitely not gaining mileage from accelerating followed by recuperative braking. The same with downhill sections of a road increasing mileage, not that from Edinburg to London (about 50 metre altitude difference), you have almost equal miles uphill as downhill and it would be better if the road was flat all the way. Sorry about the rant, not sure if others interpret this and similar reports the same way (concerning mileage increase from recuperative braking).
