EQS Extended Warranty
Wondering how many of you who bought your EQS, have also purchased an extended warranty. If so, where from and how much did you pay for it?

I see what you're saying, but for those who purchase a car every 10 years, there is a cost benefit to purchase the extended warranty when the vehicle is as new / low miles as possible. With companies like Fidelity, if you purchase 7 years from new vs 3 years once the factory warranty expires, waiting would make that same 3 years out of extended warranty cost 2-3x as much.

Why not to buy insurance
it makes no sense to ever buy insurance unless you know something that the insurance company does not know or if the loss would have a significant effect on you that you can't afford or cannot endure. Keep in mind that the insurance company has calculated the odds carefully and that they are making a profit. Of course, humans are not robots/computers, we have a very non-linear aversion to losses and sometimes we are willing to make a bad bet for some "peace of mind". Just my 2 cents.

You are also buying something today that you will not use for 4yrs. So you are giving away an interest free loan to that company.
You could have invested that money, collected interest off that money, and paid less for the warranty when the time is up.
It’s not a smart financial move…

I didn't purchase one, but just was curious and reached out to a couple finance folks at different dealerships. In each instance I was quoted right around 6K for I believe the 6/100K warranty. This is substantially more expensive than what I paid for the same coverage on other cars I had driven into the ground (2018GLE and 2015 SL550).

I use to work in corporate finance for Automobile manufacturer and extended warranty is usually a money maker for the company. The general makup on those things are about 60%. This was a cash cow unless the product was a lemon.
My 2 cents is only buy insurance when the loss would have a significant impact on ones net worth or is required by law. Most people buying EQS have money to burn. I am usually self insured.

If you owned a 7 series, the extended warranty, depending on the limit, is a must have. That's from personal experience, and I'm a partial bean counter. However with the EQS, you probably have to read the fine print on that contract. My intuition, so far, is that EV will not likely break down as often, but when it does, it will cost a handsome. You still have brakes and calipers, suspensions, and steering, and electronic modules. Suspension can reach the cost of powertrain repairs. All this assumes that you will keep the car for 10 years or more.
It's not how much you spend on repairs, but how you feel when you do have to spend money on out of warranty repairs.

If you buy an extended warranty (say 5 year 100k miles), is it 5 years and 100k miles from when you buy the warranty?

If you purchase a 3rd party warranty, like our Fidelity Platinum, the vehicle does not need to have any existing warranty coverage when signing up for extended warranty, and yes your 5 years / 100K miles would be an additional 5 years years of coverage / additional 100K miles on the vehicle, on top of the existing mileage when purchasing the warranty coverage.

You're using terminology for two different situations. If you purchase an EQS with warranty and want to extended through Mercedes-Benz, your mileage terms will be from the vehicle's inservice date/100K on the odometer.

Max 3 yrs extension with MB ELW but it can be purchased any time before original warranty expires. Fidelity has a longer warranty but it doesn't automatically start at the end of your original warranty, instead it's starts the day you purchase it.
