No Split Folding Rear Seats? 2024 EQS 450 Sedan
Tried to fold the rear seats, but couldn't find any buttons in the trunk or on the rear seats themselves. I thought they were standard on the 2024 eqs 450 sedans? Or is it optional? I have the executive rear seat package and pinnacle trim. Thanks in advance!

This is a great point of discussion, and the confusion is completely understandable because the configuration did, in fact, change after the 2023 model year.
Based on both owner experience and the official dealer guides, here is the definitive breakdown:
For 2022-2023 EQS Sedan Models:
The release mechanism is located only on the seats themselves, via the levers on the top shoulder of the outboard rear seats. There are no factory release levers in the trunk on these models.
For 2024 and Newer EQS Sedan Models:
Starting with the 2024 model year, Mercedes made the system more convenient for all trims. These models now have two release locations:
- The original release levers/buttons on the top shoulder of the seats.
- A new, second set of illuminated release levers in the trunk, high up on the sides.
Hope this provides a truly definitive answer.

. By the way, you inspired me to lease my current vehicle. I initially thought it would be too far out of my price range! Turns out to be the best decision ever
I'm quite certain I don't see any buttons on the top shoulder of the rear seats or in the trunk. I'll send photos tomorrow. Thanks!

Now, that's a very interesting development regarding the seat releases. The inconsistency between model years is already a known issue, but this adds a new layer to the puzzle.
The photos you offered to send would be immensely helpful. A picture is worth a thousand words and will definitely help us solve this mystery.
In the meantime, here’s one "insider" thing you can check that is 100% specific to your exact car: the digital owner's manual in your MBUX system. Use the search function for "folding seats." It should show a diagram of the exact release mechanism that was installed on your vehicle from the factory. Sometimes a running production change is reflected in the car's digital manual before it's widely known.
Looking forward to seeing the photos. We'll get to the bottom of it.

The AMG EQS Sedan is the primary exception across all model years. Due to its unique AMG performance rear seats, this model does not come with a folding rear seat function. I believe @MB37 has this model and can likely verify.
